A pitch is a minimum of 100m long so to score in 2 seconds would mean the ball travelling at 25m per second or an average of 55.92340725 miles per hour over the total 50 metres. In short unless he's Roberto Carlos or Peter Lorimer then its bollox!

55mph would be an average.

iwelumo reckons he had a shot registered over 80mph, so if this Mark Burrows bloke started it at 80mph then he could do it.

soccer am have hardest shots of the week too - it has to be over 70mph to qualify - chippy has been on it a couple of times

yeah but these shots are being timed from 12 yards going straight with hardly any resistance. The ball would have traveled more than half a football pitch too as it would have traveled up and then down again losing speed and momentum with the resistance on its way, even if it was wind assisted.
