One item not in the Queen's Speech, but which is now likely to be introduced, is the creation of a new time zone around Manchester. This will be variable in length but will basically see all clocks in the city either put back or forward depending on what is happening in Manchester United's latest fixture. Chancellor Gideon Osborne, announcing this proposal, to be known as Fergie Time, stated that the measure would be largely cost neutral as " sometimes matches will be shortened, sometimes lengthened, depending on the score in each game." Osborne ended by saying that the government felt this was an appropriate way to mark Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement.
