Same goes for United - robbing bastards.

I can hear the boardroom converstaion now;

"So, how y'all doing guys"

"Not too bad sir."

"Have y'all made me many dollars this week?"

"Not a great deal - its the summer - there's no matches"

"That's not what I want to hear boy. Sell more shirts then. Make me some dollars"

"Everyone's already got one, though"

"Then just y'all change the shirt, so everybody needs a new one. Jeez do ah have to think of everything around here?"

"We're not allowed sir. The shirt has to last two seasons"

"What kind of a motherfucking limey rule is that?. Hang on boy, ah've got it. Who's that offence-man - the one who looks like Shrek?"

"Rooney, sir?"

"that's him. Roonaldo. Give him the number 10 shirt, boy, so all the suckers have to buy a new shirt"

"Right away sir"

etc, etc...

But they have released a new kit aswell though so changing the number only made a difference because people who were going to get Rooney on the back have to buy 1 extra number.

I think oatway had number 7 *shrug

Don't think so, looking at the picture on the Brighton website it appears that he has a 2 digit nimber on his shorts, presumably 10.

Unless you have 'Rooney 8' on your away shirt.

Fair enough but it just said in that script thing, a kit has to be used to 2 years, when they have released a new one a year after the last one.

I thaught that pre-season you just wore what ever top you were given and the squad numbers didnt mean anything untill the deadline for the new season, which i would guess is a bit closer to the first game??

hart throwing a fit over not having the muber 9?

thats quite sad really

Not sad at all:-
1. it's part of his identity for the 9 years that he has been with us
2. being the Albion's No 9 is something to be proud of (even if playing at right back!!)

Bobby was offered it when he was signed permanently but declined prefering to stick to the #25 that he had been successful in while on loan.

lastly - are we sure that OGH is throwing a fit? haven't seen reference to it anywhere else.

I've noticed a number of players taking the 25 shirt these past few years. Not at the Albion, but Adebayor for example, Zola wore it too I think, Kanu too.

I've also heard that Harty has had the number 9 shirt taken away from him and is apparently rather upset as it means so much to him. It must be for Forster but I'm sure he would still have signed without that number. Seems a bit unfair to me. Harty should have kept it.

i can see your points, but why should a player who is not likely to be in the team be given a number in the first 11?

people complain about the americanisation of football, but giving players random numbers and taking away from the basic 1-11 principal is arguably the most american thing you could to do it

I wish that they would scrap the squad numbering system and go back to the old days where you knew what position a player was supposed to be playing in because of the number on his shirt, goalkeeper number 1, left back number 3, etc, etc...with the size of squads, plus the number of loanees during the season, it has become a joke and a case of pick any random group of numbers up to about 47.

Or higher, in some cases.

Ronaldo wears Number 99 at Milan.
