It depends who you talk to. You'll get different answers from the fans, police, FA and stewards.
Basically a load of fans arrived late to the Leppings Lane end of Hillsborough. Fans were standing and there were fences at the front of the stand to prevent pitch invasions.
A roar went up because the game had already started and fans started running towards the entrance. Because there were still so many fans outside the police made the decision to open a gate and allowed these fans to rush in pushing the fans who were already in there.
98 fans were crushed to death by fans pushing against them.
My own personal view is that both the stewards and police were to blame.
Leppings Lane is Sheffield is so easy an area to control and there was no need for any of those dreadful scenes to happen.
I don't think seating is the answer
