The following ratings are based on whether these players are good enough for a play-off side. The current squad is comfortably good enough for mid table.

Ankergren- not up to it as 1st choice, adequate as back-up
Brez- not up to it
Painter- too slow both in pace and decision making
Calderon- undecided, possibly too slow
Greer- good enoughP
Dunk- good enough
El-Abd- probably up to it as CB, not as a fullback
Taricco- is quality but his body may be too slow for his mind now
Sparrow- not up to it
Navarro- good as back up for Bridcutt, as a starter not good enough
Bridcutt- good enough
Harley- is good enough but only if he gets his head screwed on and works harder
Dicker- probably a little too slow and indecisive, is class on his day though
Vincelot- great as cover for a range of positions but not as a starter
Noone- good enough
LuaLua- good enough
Buckley- good enough
Vicente- too good, but won't be fit
Barnes- not up to it
Paynter- f*** off
Mackail-Smith- needs to work on finishing and he will be class

Ffs...we are mid table in the championship. Get a grip

With our injuries and suspensions we need to keep all our players and get some more in, its a long season and we definitely looked second best today, especially in the first 20. It changed a bit when Nooney came on, but how many chances did we miss?

Did you not read the sentence at the start of the ratings?

I am perfectly contented with our current position.

No I didn't...go to bed!

SWINDON
Paynter - possibly good league 1
Painter - good league 1
Navarro - unfortunately has been offered a contract - dohh!
harley - good league 1
dicker - good league 1
sparrow - good league 1
ankergren - Bad in all forms. If you cant come for crosses and handle well you aint never playing decent football.
brezovan - whats the point in him being around. never gonna get a game period

whislt i know we can completely empty the cupboard, id like to see some improvements made
Agree that all these are a complete waste of space and obviously not good enough:)

Players to go?
Cook seemingly and as long as we get a decent sell on I wouldn't disagree. Grant Hall is probably as good a player from reports and as likely to get a game.
Of the keepers, Poke or Brezovan surely?
I would retain all of our other defenders although if a big offer does come in for Dunk it would be hard to resist, especially if there was a loan back. I understand the arguments about speed of our fullbacks but we will need cover and it would be a bold step to let Painter go before the end of the season. Calderon has pace but needs to play a few games in central defence for the reserves to remind himself about positional discipline. I think he will see out his contract with us.
Midfield it looks likely that Jamie Smith will be released and I would let Sparrow go - he simply hasn't fulfilled his promise over the last season and a half. I am convinced that Vicente will come good and we will get a run of games out of him when it matters most. Navs as a defensive midfielder should go nowhere - look at the stats when he plays!
Up front no question I would let Paynter go back to Leeds - I might even contribute to a whip round for his fare :) Of course there is the chance that Bergkamp might make an early departure but it seems unlikely that he will attract offers.

It doesn't get a lot off the wage bill but I guess every little helps and with 9 players currently injured or suspended I don't think that we can do much more.

Coming in?
Has to be a keeper with the ability to come for crosses as well as stop shots. Personally I would go for a senior pro as a loan at this stage so wouldn't rule out Harper coming back or possibly someone like Cudicini if he is far enough down the pecking order at Spurs.
Gus seems to view Jara Reyes as a full back although based on his previous experience and form with West Brom he would be a better defensive midfielder alongside Bridcutt. Either way I think he will be back. Ryan Bertrand if Chelsea would let us have him on loan would be a good bet too.
An aggressive central midfielder with some creative ability and a physical presence is a must. Someone who can make the occassional quick forward pass instead of a slow sideways one would b e great. Could we challenge Ipswich to take Andrews from Blackburn? He would be perfect but it seems unlikely. There is of course the possibility we could go back for Garvan at Palace where he remains a fringe player but I think he is too lightweight and too much like Harley to be helpful at this stage. George Boyd would be a brilliant signing but I just can't see him being available even at £2.5m+. The alternative is to see who might be available on loan? Jake Livermore from Spurs would be a good bet and might well be on offer. McEachran at Chelsea has been suggested but a friend at Swansea says he is on his way there.
Up front I reckon we will go for Habibou. Not sure about BringBackBrianWade's Spaniard - his track record on insider tips isn't too good as I recall although the guy sounds spot on. That leaves Aaron McLean who would cost a million or so but I'm not convinced that he can add the arial ability that we lost when Murray went.

All in all if we are serious that we could make the play-offs it means an immediate investment of something like £4m to £5m with no guarantees. Do we have that sort of cash to splash? Who knows?

Staggering isn't it?

CMS needs to work on his finishing? WTF? Maybe this person needs to look at how many goals he scored last season?

We just need to change the players, manager, chairman, stadium, fans and city, then we're good to go.

Can't quiver with
this, though I think CMS is fine with his finishing. The guy is so starved of service he must be creme crackered when he gets the ball !
