Once they get going they can cover some ground! My one used to climb up the back step and leg it right the way through to the living room in a matter of seconds!!!

Ours is a bit wierd, it will ONLY eat lettuce and dandelion leaves.

May be the breed.

I'll always been impressed by the way they place a foot on some food to steady it, while they take a munch.

In a race though would be outpaced by a hedgehog.

What one did you have race?

What happened to it?:)

Erm no idea what sort he was! I found him walking along a grass verge one day when I was hacking along on my BMX to the stables! I borrowed someone elses bike with a shopping a basket to go back and rescue him before he got squashed and adopted him. He spent many years escaping into next doors jungle of a garden and getting pissed on by our dalmation but thoroughly enjoyed himself!! He eventually carked it in his box one winter.

Have you ever wondered where all these tortoises that get found are going Race ?

They never bloody get there, always picked up by someone.

It's a tip to potential owners, they walk and walk and walk. You'll need a secure run for it else next thing you know, its 10 miles away.

Don't you think that taking it for a walk is a bit pointless though ?

'ove actually
My grandad has had his tortoise for 60 odd years. He found it eating out of his lunchbox at work, so took it home :lolol:

One of his neighbours also had a tortoise, but as she was moving away, she left it with my grandad. Neither tortoise got on (one used to charge the other!) he gave it to his next door neighbour

They're nice but I'd be scared of treading on them if I had one.:(

It's not a pet, it's a snack.

And as for Race "riding along to the Stables" - what sort wages are League 1 players actually on?!

And did Tank beat the tortoise in the race through the house?

What happens if you tread on one and break their shell? Do they die?

I suppose if its only 3" long it would die! My one was quite big and I cant say I remember ever treading on it.

We had a tortoise once. However my step-dad came home pissed from the pub one night and the next morning he asked my mum if we had any more of those crunchy meat pies!
