Rangers ponder ground switch

QPR are considering leaving Loftus Road to move to a new 30,000-capacity stadium.

The club have not made their plans official or set a date for a possible departure, but they have earmarked two potential sites for a new ground, both of which are within a stone's throw of their current home.

The Dairy Crest site near White City station - less than 10 minutes' walk from Loftus Road - interests the club, as does Hammersmith Park on South Africa Road, which is even closer to the Rs' current ground.

Rangers would need a buyer for Loftus Road in order to plough the funds into building a new home, and are believed to have been in talks with representatives of the London 2012 Olympic Committee to this end.

Rangers would also need to gain planning permission from Hammersmith & Fulham Council and to hold fresh talks with Panamanian banking company ABC Corporation.

ABC loaned Rangers £10m in 2002 - a loan that costs Rangers £1m per year in interest alone - to enable them to come out of administration and has a mortgage on Loftus Road.
