They have already got loads of those around the stadium. I think it comes down to location for most events. I can't imaging what would have me travelling to Falmer for an 'event'... and it looks like they are still working out what might attract some interest, beyond the very successful matchdays and beambacks.
That's it for me, coming from Worthing (well, Findon) at least.

If I want to have a few drinks, and for these sort of things I would, Falmer feels like a bit of a slog to get to.

I suspect that I feel so weary of matchday travel that the thought of making even more visits to Falmer has my subconcious self thinking "f*** that!"

I still don't think the decision makers truly understand that the location of the Amex is SHIT, even if you're not stood in a queue with 30000 others trying to get home. It might be fine if you're a multi millionaire with a chauffeur to drive you home, but for anyone else who doesn't live at Falmer, getting there and wanting to have a few beers is an a relative Ballache. It needs to be a really unique or bloody good event to make people want to waste time on a bus or train and not just stay in the pub in town or in Lewes.

That's nobody's fault, just a reality of out of town stadia.

I suspect an evening with Bobby Z for a tenner at the Caxton or Grand Central or whatever would have filled the pubs in no time.

Tickets still going for an afternoon with me in Millers on Sunday.

Any reports of anybody staying til chucking out time (2am!) after the Liverpool game?
I stayed until just gone 11 and it was still jumping then. Liverpool fans were enjoying themselves and were getting some banter back, it was pretty good fun. I liked it as I could get a nice sit down with my post match pint. Walked straight onto the 11.19 to Brighton and all the queues were gone, so it looked like everyone was gone within the hour post match which was pretty good.

The Butters and Bobby event has disappeared now. There were a lot of tickets still available, so I'm guessing it's also been cancelled now.

It doesn't look like there have been any ticket sales for Crooky's Sports Quiz, so it's difficult to see that not going the same way.
Inevitable I feel. There must be quite a limited number of supporters, and only a very specific demographic, who would schelp all the way to the AMEX for this. If it was a charity event then maybe numbers would be better but for a routine bash (which it seems the club were trying to establish) it does not surprise me it's been cancelled.

I have been thinking/dreaming about it's use as a music venue a lot...........

Which makes it very surprising that there's no beamback this Sunday. If it's the one non-matchday event that makes money, you'd think the club would do one every game (or at least for the non-televised ones)

Still shows as this. I guess they'll decide on the viability of a beamback when the broadcasters finally decide to stop dicking around...

May seem strange but for a non football event for 300 plus people would one of hospitality lounges be more suitable
I would think so.
Knowing an event at the terrace is far from sold out would actually make me more likely to go. I've got older and I'm not paying for any event where I might not get a seat, or get a bad seat. In fact even if it's free there's a fair chance I'll give it a miss if I can't simultaneously rest my arse and my drinking arm.

I’m really struggling with The Terrace as a concept on non match days. There are plenty of live music venues in the centre of Brighton and many pubs that are finding times hard. They do not need competition from a football club attempting to make profit on non match days by hosting non football related events.
I’m guessing the Eurovision night ran at a loss then if only 60 tickets were sold. I’m also guessing it went ahead to avoid the embarrassment of a second cancellation in one month. Do other clubs open up their fans zones close season?
My work Summer party (end of June) is at the equivalent at St Mary's so presumably yes

Terrace will be great before and after games and Albion away games.. Understandably they will want it used a lot and somebody must have convinced TB it will be Any other events will be trial and errror I think it may be a case of attracting an audience away from football suporters who i think many would say a trip to Amex is last thing they want to do outside football. Am not surprised Zamora thing is off..Never thought people would pay £30 plus travel for that.
Middle of Brighton is a different matter. I think Glen Murrey did one at Theatre Royal

They’ve built the wrong kind of place haven’t they?

They’ve built somewhere whose layout and design appears to be based largely on those shots a few years back of people picturesquely luzzing their beer up in the air when England score. Fine, there’s totally a market for a vibe like that at times.

But for these nicer more intimate events with former players etc you need somewhere that’s actually a much nicer environment than Boxpark at East Croydon station, that you’d want to sit in and relax - more like a nice comfy plush sports bar, with proper tables and seats, some screens etc. not some big empty box with overcrowded serving hatches, vast dazzling screens and nothing much else.

As to what this says about how the average fan is seen by some of the decision makers, well I couldn’t possibly comment. But we are Brighton, not those Tottenham animals acting like chavs in Spain: truth is that many of us are rather used to a bit of class, frankly.
Quite the opposite. they've built exactly the right kind of place - for its primary (match day) purpose.

They are just trying too hard to think of non-match day uses, and coming up with a procession of unsuitable ideas.

It's interesting to see that the stadium hosts quite a few other events, but not in The Terrace but in the more conventional lounge spaces, eg An Evening with Michael Portillo...
