Sorry if fixtures, EFL clubs today voted through a new TV rights deal with Sky Sports worth £935million over 5 years.

1000 matches will be either broadcast or streamed each season from 2024/25 to 2028/29. Up from 138 EFL matches that are currently broadcast each year. DAZN were competing but wanted to end the 3PM blackout and show all games.

Among the 1000 games per season that will be broadcast, all opening, final day, and midweek fixtures in the EFL will be shown live along with games played on Bank Holidays including Easter, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. All fixtures in League One and League Two during international breaks will be televised.

Breakdown is:
328 Championship Matches
248 League One matches
248 League Two matches
All 15 play-off matches
All 93 Carabao Cup matches
All 127 EFL Trophy matches

There are 552 matches in a Championship season (excluding play-offs), meaning just under 60% of them will be moved to be televised.

My thoughts were along similar lines. Todays 3pm live TV game is a one-off event due to the coronation. But with the EPL rights up for grabs and so many companies looking to bid, will Sky throw everything at the EFL with blanket coverage.

It's broadly a 75/15/10 split between the three divisions.

So for a Champ club works out as about £6m a year, on top of which they will get solidarity payments from PL of about £5m.

At least that will fix the imbalance of only a handful of League One and League Two games on TV as opposed to many more National League games as they have their own deal.

will be good to see our youngsters live in the EFL Trophy.
