Put simply, I think that it is brilliant.

Classic melancholic Bowie, observant, concise, reflective, and poignant.

Been a huge Bowie fan ever since I saw him supporting The Groundhogs - yes, really ! - at a half-empty Dome in 72.

Like this track, but as someone said earlier, it has the feel of someone who knows he's not going to be around much longer. Intimations of mortality and all that.

Now that'll be a very sad day in my life.....Bowie provided the soundtrack to my 70's, all the highs and the lows. Genius.

This track is total Bowie, unbelievably out of this world.

It almost parallels where I am in my life

This song has really grown on me too. Can't wait for the album on March 12th,which happens to be the release date of 'Secrecy' by my favourite author Rupert Thomson, who hasn't been doing much either for some while :)

I actually bleached my hair and had it styled like his.

Funny. When I was 17 I decided I wanted to look like David Coverdale so I grew my hair and had it permed. I still cannot decide if it was one of my greatest or worst moments.

Nice to see he is still working with Visconti which was always his best music

Nice to see he is still working with Visconti which was always his best music

Despite its wistful lead single, David Bowie's surprise new record is "quite a rock album", his producer Tony Visconti said. The Next Day is a mixture of "classic Bowie" and "innovative Bowie", Visconti promised.

Visconti – who has now produced 13 Bowie albums – said he was surprised with the decision to make Where Are We Now? the LP's first single. "It's maybe the only track on the album that goes this much inward for him," he said. "I thought to myself: 'Why is David coming out with this very slow, albeit beautiful, ballad? … He should come out with a bang.' But [David] is a master of his own life. I think this was a very smart move, linking the past with the future, and the next thing you hear from him is going to be quite different."
