Loans are very common in this division though.
We have spent more in the last two years on transfer fees than in the previous 110, and then there is the investment of £150 million in the infrastructure.

firstly, thats hardly a high bar to reach, and secondly the reference was to investmet in the playing side. yes we have spent money and i dont think spending was the problem last season. just highlighting that the list of signings doesn't equate to a massive investment in the playing squad.

Almost as much as the romans. The exception being the aqueduct!
Sanitation - compare the Amex facilities to those at the Goldstone and Withdean
Medicine - defibrillators everywhere already saving lives
Education - AITC
Wine - Available in the concessions
Public order - masses of stewards
Irrigation - plumbing for the Amex
Roads - sustainable transport system
Fresh Water - Alas no aqueduct but the mains comes into the Amex somehwhere!
Public Health - We don't get wet when it rains (well most of us don't).
TV money this season for Premier League club is at least £62 million with more depending on your league position

The only thing I disagree with in the hotel plan is that apparently the club want to call it the Damian Hilton.
But we have invested in the playing side. CMS £2.5m, Ulloa £2m, Buckley £1m, Hoskins £500k, KLL £500k, Wayne Bridge's wages £500k etc.

Yes, and we know that's because the club want to comply with FFP.
Investment in capital assets will help secure the future of the club, the transient assets are the manager & players and, even ignoring FFP, arguably don't require massive investment on a year by year basis at the present time. It's a tricky balancing act but why splurge £2.85M on a player when you don't know if you'll be in the Premier league next year or in 3 years time? Loan signings can be easily disposed of when necessary; Harley, Vincelot, Dobbie, Hoskins etc point the way not to go.
I think the last 2 years have been a considerable learning exercise for TB (and us) and the cloth is now being cut to suit a markedly different fashion.

This is a report, prepared by Council Officers, that will be considered by the Council's Policy & Resources Committee at its meeting next Thursday (17 October).
The Council Officers' recommendations are:-
1. That Policy & Resources Committee authorise the Executive Director Environment Development & Housing, Executive Director Finance & Resources and Head of Legal Services to enter into negotiations with The Community Stadium Limited (“TCSL”) regarding the proposed redevelopment of the Falmer Released Land, as shown on the annexed plan, with TCSL and to agree that proposed Heads of Terms are brought back to this Committee for final approval.
2. That Policy & Resources Committee authorise the Executive Director Environment Development & Housing, Executive Director Finance & Resources and Head of Legal Services to enter into negotiations with TCSL regarding the proposed construction of a hotel on the land adjacent to the Community Stadium shown on the annexed plan and to agree that proposed Heads of Terms are brought back to this Committee for final approval.
It's worth noting that the Council haven't yet ruled out the option of inviting other developers to bring forward alternative proposals for the future use of The Bridge Car Park / Former Falmer School ("FRL") site, if this could generate more revenue for the Council. A negotiated deal with the football club ("TCSL") isn't the only option on the table - although it's certainly a preferred option:-
"Disposal of the FRL to TCSL would provide a focused approach that may offer a quicker route to redevelopment, rather than seeking a preferred developer through a tender process. However, whilst TCSL may be seeking freehold ownership of the site, it is recommended that in negotiations with TCSL, the council explore all options with them, including disposal and a Joint Venture vehicle where the council retains an investment stake and revenue stream. It is therefore, recommended that the council enter into negotiations with TCSL for Heads of Terms for the redevelopment of the FRL".

The council are so useless with making the correct decisions, they always make sure it's a tiresome drawn out process to avoid making a decision. By the time they include the policies within a project, the project ends up being an impossible financial mess. Just like the i360, the King Alfred Gehry project, Black Rock ice rink and going back further the West Pier. All of these failures are council motivated.
