whilst watching the f.a cup final and paying little attention i thought i'd have a look to see if brighton, crystal palace, portsmouth and southampton had ever been in the same league at the same time. a few minutes reaearch on the soccerbase site suggests they haven't.
anyone else want some frustrating questions answered while im in boffinesque mood?

The closest we've come to that is 1960/61 when we were in the old Div 2 with Portsmouth and Southampton and 77/78 with Southampton and Palace

Soccerbase doesn't include the 1960 - 61 season, then? [Edit] Sorry, missed Palarse out - was only looking for the sourh coast clubs

Obviously understand wanting palace and pompey in the division, but is the Saints thing as West Sussex/Hampshire boarder thing and do Albion fans in Hastings have a similar thing with Gillingham? I've always seen other London clubs as more relevant and more interesting to us as Brighton as London by Sea has more links to London than it does a Hampshire town. Saints don't particularly interest me either way, and perhaps wrongly I see Saints as a dull (if better supported) club like Reading. Between the two I'd much rather follow Pompey even nowadays and much rather have West Ham, Charlton or even Leyton Orient or Brentford in our division. I also find Bristol Rovers more interesting than Saints, but I think that's because they have been the underdogs in Bristol but still with a good following and I like their kit. Its funny what effects your view of other clubs.
