Head in the sand? Aw bless. I love the concept of someone that differs in opinion somehow has their head in the sand. Myself I've earned to get where I am now - spent 3 months in a job without pay just to get the experience I need.
However, being younger I'm fully aware of how things are in the 21st century and not stuck in the past. Miserable **** that you are.
good for you , please tell me how you can have an ''apprenticeship'' in warehousing , then i'll listen to you.

Sadly mate , youre posting without thinking things through, we all know things move on and progress , and i have no problem with that, sadly though, people , and your generation more importantly, are being conned , with these ''apprenticeships'' when they're nothing of the sort.

Not really , all youre doing is trying to shift the debate away from the truth by muddying the waters and defelection using statistics that arent relevant, like it or not , even with the numbers you mentioned, we had a settled population from the norman conquest until the commonwealth immigration of the windrush generation.

"We" had a settled population?

Lucky for you then that through fear or hunger or a better life for their family, your ancestors journeyed out of the heart of darkness and settled in this green and pleasant land and, under our louring northern skies, successive generations gradually lost their exotic tint and finally bequeathed to you the right to stand proud, secure in your white supremacy.

It helps if you actually listen. I had to see a retina consultant, who was Mr Woon from Hong Kong. He was a leading specialist in his field. He was perfectly coherent.

Perhaps you have trouble understanding Kayal or Calde when they give interviews? After all, they're immigrants.

It's surely got to be a viable option for those who haven't done that well in academia? Those looking for unskilled work then also looking to get the knowledge of management, stock control etc. Agreed its not exactly a 100carat opportunity for someone but if it gets them employed I fail to see the issue.

you don't know me or what i've had to do in my life, so you can wind your neck in.

changed for you
it was cameron who came on Southern TV and said that it would be no more than 10.000
and he always goes red when he lies ...........................or is that his high blood pressure

No need to change it, it references original predictions. As for what Cameron said he is liar second only to Blair, a Euro lacky whos hoping for a lucrative post when he leaves office and someone who will say anything out of political expedience.

As you can see I do have a lot of sympathy with your point but technicalities appeal to my anal nature.:)

The issue is calling it an apprencticeship mate, govenments both tory and labour have both made capital out of ''apprenticeships'' , implying that some sort of lifelong , portable , in demand skill is being learnt where the truth is that many of these apprenticeships are teaching nothing more than low level skills that can be learnt extremely quickly.

3 MONTHS IS ALL YOU NEED TO BE IN THE SWING, you might get a manual handling course or you may have a fork lift licence , that's about it:)

Sounds like a barrister.Someone who has wealthy parents to bank roll through 3 months with zero income then straight on to starter pay of 60K, so Isolated they may as well live in Geelong.

For every story like yours there is one to counter balance it, i had to see a pakistani doctor who had a very poor grasp of english both spoken and written, he diagnosed me with ''inflamed veins'' in my leg and gave me an appointment to see a specialist in 3 months, luckily i had private health insurance through work and i saw a specialist the next day, in reality i had a DVT and i'd have been dead within a week if it hadnt been treated.

Funny thing is 'Ive seen quite a few people banging the drum for mass immigration and they haven't noticed(As i did) that the tidal mark for immigration was already above their heads. When the penny dropped they went very quiet indeed.Of the 8 or so I can think of the biggest group was single parents hoping to be rehoused in a bigger property. Others were those priced out of London or struggling to find work. Not to mention those looking for work AND to relocate were/are facing a nightmare.

Didn't the government offer Apprenticeships at Costa Coffee, that just tells how desperate and how devalued Apprenticeships have become over the years. A proper Apprenticeships is what you used to get at companies like Parker Pen, 5 years to train as a Mechanical Engineer, Toolmaker. They got day release to college every week, and all the training they could dream off, good money and a most importantly a trade at the end of it.
