Does this mean we will soon be able to buy one of those scarve that are half one team half another like Liverpool and Celtic have?

Would be quite cool to have half Brighton half deportivo

that would be cool. one half blue and white stripes, the other, blue and white stripes

mmmmmmmmmm blue and white stripes:)

I have always had a soft spot for RCD Espanyol who live in the shadow of Barcelona but have the gritty Barcelona fans aka Man City. They also have the blue and white stipes, by the sea and have a 60,000 stadium.

There is also a British war hero buried there (I can't remember his name). They recently had a dedication ceremony to him and large numbers of people came along. Sadly they suffered from the Prestige oil disaster a couple of years ago, which wrecked a large part of the Galician coast, affecting bird reserves and the economy. The Spanish government did nothing (sound familiar   ), but fortunately the EU is at last going to do something. I will certainly drink a few :drink: to Deportivo. It's a shame Maakay has gone to Bayern Munich.

By the way, another interesting (boring) fact. Though La Coruna is the largest city (I think) in Galicia, like us here in Sussex they also have a much smaller regional capital city, Santiago de Compostela, though they play in the Spanish Second Division, a little bit higher than Lewes. Finally, if we support Deportivo, does that make Celta Vigo the Palace of Spanish football?

lol, i misread that at first mate. nothing palatial about vigo.....doh.

indeed they are what palace are to brighton.

the war hero's name is sir john moore. there is a british cemetery in coruna, next to the cemetery in which members of my family are buried. in fact there's a fair few links between the two places. not least cos many gallegos came over to work. also, without wishing to get political, it can't be denied that the city of brighton has slightly different political leanings to the rest of the south east, and its the same in coruna/galicia.

I have amended the Deportivo Brighton information and sent it in to two sources at Espanyol, I hope we are as successful as Alan Partridge. Now four sources.

Celta vigo ... Depors palace ..... not sure ... my cousin view is that vigo are bunch of rabble ... it's the Arcelona and real madrid that are the real (no pun intented) scum ...

Espanyol certainly get my vote over Arcelona .....

Sir John Moore cementry is the best kept part of Coruna. He led the retreat from napolean aided by the locals, who gave Napolean a bloody nose. Strangely, France is not at the top of Coruna's Xmas card list.

When we get Falmer - what about a prestige friendly against Deportivo ?

It could establish a good bond between the clubs and who knows we might be able to get a couple of season long loans in the future.

Following on from all this, I decided to try america. I picked the New York MetroStars to post a message on and I had one of their fans reply in seconds saying a letter had gone off to Prescott.

Top stuff.

Albion & England forever.

Hello from A Coruña, near Riazor stadium ;)

I've seen the petition and i signed the petition and sent the
mail. I can't believe that you don't have your own stadium in
Brighton yet. You'll have my support evertime you need (if i can
help).

Now Brighton is my 2nd team ;) Maybe we could exchange
our t-shirt. I could send this one:

(i need the depor's blue/white one for the matches)

Great to see we are making waves in Spain. So much for being ‘provincial’!
