I see that Prescott's baby, Regional Assemblies, has been rejected by the North-East in a referendum on the issue.

Can this fat cvnt get nothing right?

Can't say I'm upset. It was an attempt to split England and was going to introduce another level of Government. If it had been a vote for an English parliament I'd have been in favor.

Doesn't surprise me. The sensible NE folk, including the Mackems, feel satisfied with the regional assembly that they have already, notably the Stadium of Light.

What people probably want is an English parliament rather than regional assemblies that have limited powers.
Anyway, Mr Prescott should be able to give his full and undivided attention to the Falmer issue now that his other major function in goverment has been mothballed.

Only a 40% turnout. Ironically they didn't even have to turnout physically as it was a postal ballott.

How hard is is to cross a box and post it back?

Democracy in action:rolleyes:

48% turnout. Not great to not too bad either.

Yes 22% No 78%

Every single one of the 23 council areas in the North EAst voted no.

One of the main problems for the yes campaign was that people from around the region feared that the Assembly would be Newcastle dominated. There is a lot of bad feeling from Sunderland and other areas (justifiably IMHO) that Newcastle gets all of the investment and other areas are ignored.

Not football related by the way.

BY population and size Sunderland is the biggest city in the North East yet Newcastle has all the stature. The regional assembly would have done nothing to promote the city of Sunderland and all the funds, yet again, would have been invested in Newcastle.
