Sussex Sharks coach Peter Moores welcomes back three key players for the National League day/night encounter with Middlesex Crusaders at Hove.

Chris Adams and Mushtaq Ahmed return from elbow and groin injuries respectively, while Tim Ambrose is fully fit following knee trouble.

However, James Kirtley is unavailable due to the shin splints problem which ruled him out of contention for the fifth Test between England and South Africa.

Bas Zuiderant will play no part after being released from his contract.

"It has been unfortunate for Bas that due to the outstanding performance of the first XI this year he has not been able to cement a place in the side," Moores said.

"Bas is an extremely talented batsman whose commitment to the club has always been 100%. I am confident that, given the opportunity, he will fulfil his ambitions."

Middlesex seamer Joe Dawes is struggling with the knee injury which forced him to miss last week's Frizzell County Championship defeat by Warwickshire, and coach John Emburey will wait on the results of a late fitness test before naming his side.

Off-spinning all-rounder Paul Weekes is expected to open the innings with captain Andrew Strauss.

Possibly the worst player ever to play for Sussex. He makes Guy Butters look like Zamora in comparison.

There's a bold statement. He probably doesn't even close to some of the rubbish that we've had to put up with over the years. Do the names Terry Racionzer (sp?) and Jerry Groome mean nothing to you. What about Norman Wisdom's son? And those are in my lifetime - there were loads of chinless wonders who made a couple of appearances and scored bugger all.

No, Bas is one of the shining stars compared with some of the dross we've had.

True, I was probably being a bit harsh, there HAVE been some complete imbecilies playing for us. I suppose it's a bit like those threads where people say players like Giles Stille and Steve Jacobs were the worst players to play for Brighton. Both would have been absolute superstars if they'd been playing circa 1996.
