I read that if over 55 and buying a ticket after 5pm you stand more chance of dieing before the draw than winning, but I still have my 1 entry each draw.

Thanks for reminding me. I was not keen on the extra ten numbers and had my doubts when they put it up to £2. So i will cancel my DD.

If you play 4 games a week your better off taking your £416 and playing one number on roulette £14,976 not to be sniffed at with much lower odds. I believe you don't get much more for 5 and the bonus now anyway

Is there a chance of winning over a million on that roulette wheel?

I do the lottery, not because I'm trying to play the odds and win the odd £25 here and there but just because there is a chance (admittedly not a great chance) of a life changing amount.

We met a friend in Fuengirola today whose brother was one of the very first £1m winners 25 years ago. He retired at 50 to Marbella and it certainly changed his life. Still a wealthy man snd what we dream of

Despite all the difficulties with Saturdays draw I think Lotto hope that these will all be forgotten if the rollovers keep going to the Huge jackpots. We all perhaps say these are immoral and they should have more smaller prizes, but the facts are that big jackpots attract more ticket sales as in America, even if we know the chance of winning is very very small.

With a million I could retire, £5 Million - wow, but a £50 Million jackpot might make me buy an extra ticket (or more) or a ticket I wouldn't normally buy?

We all know the chances are very small, but over the years there are something like 4000 millionaires have been made and many of us would like to be one as well!

Although, last Saturday with the old system, over 300,000 people were cash winners. This week just over 140,000 cash winners - less than half.

The odds on wining over a million are better, it was I believe 1: 14,000,000 now 'only' 1: 10,000,000 and a guaranteed one million every draw, it would be much better if you only buy one ticket a week, to buy one for Wednesday as less people play so the odds of someone winning the million are therefore higher.

Less is now allocated to 'The Pools Fund' which is an amount equal to 17.82% of sales for a Lotto Draw and Millionaire Raffle Draw. The Pools Fund for a Lotto Draw and Millionaire Raffle Draw will be allocated from the Prize Fund to the Match 6, Match 5 + Bonus, Match 5 and Match 4 Prize categories.

Less is also allocated to the match 5 + bonus indeed this week it was only £120,670 to one winner (not life changing - although nice)

So it is a tax on us dreamers (or fools) that want to escape the rat race and no longer be a slave to 'wages' I will do it less often (I think!) I am pleased they now pay a million guaranteed every draw, I wish the other prizes were bigger, as surely £5Million or even £10Million is more than enough? But as someone else said 'you have to be in it to win it!' and we all have a choice to take it or leave it.

At work we have a syndicate and we did on the lowest tier win two 'free' lucky dips Saturday.

I never really bothered with the lottery ever since I read somewhere that you should always buy your ticket in the morning, because statistically you had a better chance of dying during the course of that day than of winning the jackpot.

Loves theses things - I've read that the bookies will give you better odds on sellotaping a £1 coin to a bit of card, and flushing down the loo, and then getting that same coin back in your lifetime, than winning the jackpot - Seriously..!

And i'm sure i heard on the radio recently, that the odds against winning have now increased (overall) around 700%

Probably, but there's more chance of me winning the lottery than one of your "football rumours" coming off.

ps. I don't play the lottery.

I've met loads of lottery winners (through work), they have come from all walks of life but none of them expected to win. Personally I don't really miss the few quid a month that goes out by direct debit for my lucky dip and if against the (admittedly) enormous odds I get to call work on Monday morning and tell them to get stuffed the that would be a massive bonus. Despite the bad odds, I still think I pick up as much on the odd lottery win as I do with my appalling record at sports betting of any kind.

It is only 3 times harder to Win!!!!! - not 700%! (okay that's bad enough)

But there is a chance take it or leave it I guess, for £2 you can dream......

Here are the approximate chances of matching the drawn numbers: •JACKPOT (matching all six numbers): 1 in 45 million (was 14 million)
•FIVE + THE BONUS BALL: 1 in 7.5 million (very poor pay out for just missing it)
•FIVE: 1 in 150,000
•FOUR: 1 in 2,000
•THREE: 1 in 100
•TWO: 1 in 10

And just for interest, here are some other chances:
•The chance of winning ANY prize: 1 in 9.2 (nearly 11%)
•The chance of matching just one number: 1 in 2.5 (nearly 40%)

If you buy one
lottery ticket
every minute
for the next
90 years,
the chances are that
ONE
ticket will win
the lottery jackpot.

The big 'but' is will it be the one you buy this week or in 90 years time?

Fingers crossed that it is this week,

Just a thought..... would the chances of winning on the Euro millions be better than the lottery now the extra numbers have been thrown to the lottery.

Also a guaranteed 1 million pound winner in a raffle of the tickets bought. So if 100,000 tickets bought, you have an automatic 1 / 100,000 chance of winning 1 million.
