Please: the mere mention of the word "Brentford" causes the memory to drift back to the traumatic events at Griffin Park in the late 90s - Glenn Thomas' mad, incomparably-bad five minute horror show, without doubt the only time I have felt sick with embarrassment at being an Albion fan. I think that, as a result, I have some inkling of what Vietnam veterans went through when they got home. Only worse.

Nathan Jones reminds me of Michael Bennett. Capable of some nice football interspersed with shocking passes, terrible control and suicidal choices.

He was very poor last night. When him and Knight went for the same ball in the first half did anyone else notice them have a go at each other? I felt for certain that Jones wouldn't come out for the second half after that.

Despite his general awfulness, he does manage to conjure up moments of inspiration. How many goals has he created this season? A lot more than Oatway, Chippy and Hart I'll wager.

I agree that Jones was awful but that was no excuse for the cheers that greeted his substitution. How will that help him build his confidence for the next performance or assist the team in anyway. If anything McGhee will stick with him in the next game just to show his public support for a player that the fans have turned against.

He was dreadful but he was still wearing the blue and white stripes and therefore deserves our full support.

Moan over.

He probably thought they were cheering the arrival of Ginger Prince anyway.

I agree with your comments baz\-Jones had an awful game but did not deserve the huge cheer when he was taken off.He was being barracked by "fans" throughout the game. When are people going to learn that a player having a bad game doesn't need to be slagged off-a few words of encouragement might be more beneficial

I wasn't there last night, but he couldn't have been any worse than he was against Bournemouth. I would attribute our inability to hit double figures against one of the worst sides that I've seen for a good month at Withdean to him.

Both Jones and Mayo, during his brief appearance, were absolutely awful last night. They now need a prolonged period in the reserves to shake them up a bit. It takes more than effort to win a football match and the sooner McGhee realises that the better. Vision, skill and control do tend to help somewhat. I agree that Leon had a bad night too but it must be so frustrating for him to play for a side that insists on knocking long balls to him in the air, which he has little hope of getting. Will we never learn?

Jones has one trick - stepping over the ball - unfortunately the step has turned into a trip - why worry about past players - he is a weak link at the moment (not the only one, but this thread is about Nathan). For some time now I have cringed when I see him on the team sheet - against bournemouth I thought he was embarrasing. Time for a run in the reserves - give somebody, anybody a chance to shine.

Jonesy gives the ball away at an alarming rate.

If we had played a better team than Brentford we'd have lost last night - a couple of his "gimmes" were suicidal deep in our half.

I agree. But the question is will Jonesy be given an opportunity to redeem himself against Tranmere. Let's hope not.

You're right in what you say but I think the cheer was one of sheer relief that a player was going off who could any minute have cost us a goal. He knew he had just had a bad game, you could tell by his body language.
I do agree though that even though he played a poor game you could not fault his work rate and at least he did try to make things happen, more than a couple of the others I could mention.
I also agree that McGee will keep him in the side, just to help him with his confidence if nothing else. Lets just hope his form improves, AND QUICK!!!

Who else is going to play on the left side of midfield?

Does Jakey deservea chance out there. Don't slate me, i reckon he could do a job out there.
