What is it then?

In the days before people started thinking that indie meant skinny white boys playing guitars, it referred to record companies that were independent of major labels e.g. Fierce Panda, Damaged Goods, Factory, Sub-Pop. An "indie" label could release punk, progressive rock, C86, electronica, or any other genre of music.

This is true but I would say the term Indie has evolved to mean a certain type of music.

Ah! At least someone else likes Country music - I thought I'd be the only one! I was in Nashville last year when the Country Music festival was on. This year's starts, how I'd love to be there........!

I would say Guitar based rock in the main but I am not a fan of metal and 'Rock' implies a lot of things. Green Day are supposed to be Punk but they can't be, they can play their instruments for a start ! Feeder are allegedly Indie but I would say they are Rock where as Metalica are Metal (and IMHO, highly overrated).

Actually I don't really care what genre a piece of music is if I like it. After all I liked Busted or Pussy Cat Dolls and Eminem for instance although people my age are supposed to like Pink Floyd or Slade neither of whom I can stand.

I like Keith Urban, particularly "Nobody Drinks Alone" and "Tonight I Wanna Cry".

You should check out Brooks & Dunn if you like country rock. They're the 2nd biggest selling duo in music history across all genres (behind only Simon & Garfunkel) and well worth a listen IMO.

When I say 'phase', I really meant a 15 year phase. B&D were good, but lost it a little through drink IMO.

Keith Urban and Toby Keith are 'it' at the mo.

See, I disagree, I think B&D have got better over the years. You listen to Ronnie Dunn's vocal on "Believe" on their latest album, as well as stuff like "Red Dirt Road", "It's Getting Better All The Time" etc...well, that's my opinion at least.

I personally can't stand Toby Keith, I'd prefer to listen to Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley or Joe Nichols over him any day of the week.
