Murray is a much better player than Lambert, don't see how he would fit into the way Poyet wants to play really, though we could do worse if Murray goes. Seems a bit unlikely though.

It's clear that muzza is not 100% committed to the Albion, if he was he would have signed up and be away on his holibobs IMHO and as such gus/Tony b are spot on with their approach to the whole situation. . Now if Murray was to go to Southampton, you would think they would have a surplus of strikers on the books....I also heard sometime ago, that Mr Poyet was very keen on Lambert and that was a long time before we plyed them at withdean, when Gus was singing his praises after the game.

That swap was rumoured some time ago. It must also be remembered that Barnard may well go inside for large part of this coming season. Poyet said he was going to sign a specialist penalty taker so among others Lambert would fit the bill. I would be happy to sign him and also another player to play alongside of him as a foil, perhaps Hoskins.

Don't think that's really anything to do with not liking Brighton fans, that's just his personality.

Its hard to be disspationate about this, but as hard as I try, I cannot see why a guy from up north, who has had a brilliant season and can negotiate any fee with almost anyone in the lower half of the Championship would choose to leave his recent club with a brand new stadium and high expectations, to go to a club only weeks away from their next period of administration in a decrepit ground and no aspirations at all.

Oh yeah. Silly me, I overlooked the money. My advice Glenn, is to get as much of your wages as you can paid in cash up front, don't sign a contract with a relegation pay cut clause and then make sure you're out injured when Croydon play at The Amex.

Really surprising. Can solely be down to ££££ wages,
as he AIN'T going to take them up to the Premier League above West Ham, Southampton, (2 of Blackburn, Blackpool, Wolves & Wigan), Leeds, (3 of Cardiff, Swansea, Forest & Reading), Ipswich under Jewell, etc, etc.

Their skint Board with a crumbling stadium, must have stretched their pay structure to accomodate the League One striker.

In modern times, can only think of Gary O'Reilly & Gary Williams who made this move.

Knowing now, early on will assist Gus with his planning.

Some of you are jumping the gun completely, as many have said, why would he join Palace over a club he's settled at?I'd be happy if we signed him but I don't think it's true. Oh and Speroni would never join your lot...

Honestly, genuine question (and yes i have been to a lot of games this season), just HOW good is Glenn Murray? I'm not doubting he is a talented player but at the same time I feel he has been spoilt rotten this season with the service from Benno etc so much so that even Barnes (not knocking him at all!) in his first full season as a pro has bagged TWENTY goals. Murray is a good player but I think it would be fair to say he has been helped to look so good because of the way we play and that is not something he will get at Palace or most other clubs in fact who play hoofball or whatever.
Losing him would be a loss yes, but if we could replace him with i don't know, for example Lambert then we would be fine while Murray gets berated by fans of some other club for his languid style and not scoring like he did for us.

Yeah and him and some fans had words at brenford as he was so called home sick and wanted to move back up north.Two transfer requests also arrived from him but nobody was interested in taking him at the time.

As for South London slums, Murray would not have to move home if he joined Palace. Although maybe it would be advisable lol.

Two things:

1) It's a terrible move for Murray
2) It's a terrible move for Palace

Assuming that in wages Palace are breaking the bank on a player that is unproven at that level they are idiots. He has shown that he takes a while to settle at a club. He will have to doubly prove himself having come from us and I predict he will be a MAJOR FLOP with them.

I'm actually quite pleased though as I trust Gus' judgement and if he doesn't think Murray is worth the wages then that's good enough for me. Also pleased it is sorted out this early as it gives Gus all summer to find two quality strikers. I was worried it would drag on all summer and we'd be waiting on him to decide.

Also can't see Palace fans taking to his languid style. It took us a few years to get used to it and if he's not scoring at the same time I can see him being unpopular.
