I don't care. It's taking the piss wherever or whoever it comes from. 10 ****ing percent! Anyone else had a 10% pay rise recently?

IPSA was set up in the wake of the expenses scandal, should we just ignore this independent body and have MPs decide their own pay?

It seems a sad state of affairs that an independent body had even to be set up in the first place. Does not need to happen in too many other environments.

No. I'd like them to acknowledge the recommendations of IPSA but then reject them. I struggle to believe IPSA's recommendations are legally binding and the 10% will be forced upon them. Most governments are happy to reject independent reports when the findings don't fit their agenda. They should do the same here.

Oh I agree, but you shouldn't have any members of staff having a cartel over their pay IMO, especially when it is public money. The Independent body is necessary (as has been shown) and should be respected.

They can not reject them outright, as in unless it was an 'executive order from Cameron' which would mean IPSA would have to be broken up - as that is how IPSA was founded.

Many of the MPs have said they wont accept it (i.e they will donate the '10%') - DC, HH, NC and AC have all said they dont think the rise is a good idea. Seems you should stick to the facts with regards to the fictions 5% NHS pay rise.

As stated IPSA is not perfect, but as they haven't had a pay rise for 20 years, it is long overdue

Maybe IPSA should look at your suggestion in the future though past this rise.

i'd love to see a union accept a 2% annual rise, 5 years in arrears (no backdating), lower benefits and more conditions imposed on performance review process.

I wish I'd been in a Union that was offered a 2% annual rise, 5 years in arrears (i.e 10% now). Would have grabbed that with both hands!
