Is there an easy way to quickly copy all of my messages on to an external drive?

I'm moving to another laptop but won't have it until I return this one....

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks.

Yup.

Just copy what ever folders you want from the mail dir (mine for example can be found: C:\Documents and Settings\Phil\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\0r6bqa53.default\Mail\Local Folders - I assume you are using windoze?) then setup the new machine and replace the dirs you've copied with these.

One thing to remember if you burn these to CD/DVD when you copy them back on to your new machine they will be read only, make sure you make them readable before you start up thunderbird.

Look in C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\<some random letters>\Mail\

I guess you just copy everythying in there to the new laptop.

Google will be able to tell you more, such as exporting the mail accounts and address book.
