So you can get business visa through the company I could possibly work for? So they might sponser me to stay if im good enough?

The people are dead freindly arnt they?

How have you settled?

If you have a job offer you can go to a Payroll Company and basically they Sponsor you and contract you out to your Employer.

The Employer just pays an invoice and you get paid by the Payroll Company AND get to enjoy a lovely tax break called Living Away From Home Allowance which means your rent and living expenses are tax free!

I think there is a minimum salary level of about $50k...

Aussies are a very welcoming bunch and very proud of their country.

I have not been to Surfers' but just come back form the SUnshine COast a bit further north and it was lovely, 28c, warm sea, balmy nights and yes, lots of Aussie chicks in bikinis aching to tell you about their long lost aunt in England...

That is what i did. When my WHV ran out, they wanted me to stay and i wanted to stay, so they offered me a 12 month contract and i went to Entity Solutions and they sorted me out.

Once you are out here, it is easy, really is... f*** me, I did it!

Don't get brainwashed into thinking it would be easy to make the move here.
I had a hell of a job and nearly gave up.
I recommend that you go to an agent in the UK, I could recommend one.
They will take all your details and tell you if you have any chance at all with the points system and they do not charge for this service, if you do qualify then they will take you on and do all the exhausting paperwork etc. for you for a not unreasonable fee.
Don't forget you may be highly skilled but if your skill is not on their list of priorities at the time of application you may have trouble.
With an engineering degree, teaching experience and running my own business for 17 years in UK with 6 employees, I had a lot of grief.
Also you have to apply before your 45 years old or don't bother.
If you can bake a loaf of bread or cut hair they will pay your flight and buy you a house?
With my experience I must be verrrrry dodgy.
Spoke to a bloke in pub here with same experience.
He was about to give up, so sent his wife on a 8 week hairdressing course at local Tech. College, once she had certificate welcomed with open arms.
Just wish knew this before.
She has never cut hair since, 50% of Aussies are hairdressers.
The employment markets in the Eastern states are sown up and run by the Italians or the Greeks a bit like the mafia especially site work, however in Perth everything is booming and because most of the population is expat you don't have a problem with work.
At the moment all you have to do to qualify for a job is to be able to breath!
The beaches etc. are just as lovely as the Gold Coast and it is the eating out capital of the world.
Although I had a hard job getting here and am still finding my feet , I do not regret the move.
Have moved from tiny place in hanover to 4 x bed. 2 x bath. on 1/2 acre and NO mortgage...........oh yeah with pool:D

i guess you went straight for Perm Residency from the UK?

If you can still get a WHV, come out here on that, then it is much easier to find work whilst working - same as everywhere in the world.

Glad to hear you are coming through it, though, OzMike! Not sure about Perth being the eating out capital of the world, mind. WA maybe....

I came here on a WHV, but had a job lined up with the company I was working with in the UK. Most of my English & Irish friends here came on WHV and found work. A friend of mine is a Web Dev Manager for Reserve Bank of Oz and he's been working through an agent like South Yarra Seagull does. He's been doing it for 6 years, though has just got his Perm Residency.

I've got my Perm Res now, and love it here... wouldn't go back to the UK now

South Yarrah, not sure if eating out capital...

I put on weight.....eating out I suppose.
Had to send Albion shirt back to shop and get them to send me an XXl replacement.

Have not been the same since making this confession:down:

i am applying for Perm Res at the end of the year through my De Facto Spouse.

Losing my LAFHA will kill me, i will lose $800 month out my take home!

But you right, Stumpy - i wouldn't go back permanently now.

OzMike - I think eating out all over Oz makes one put on weight - i know i have..

Biscuit ,I was 44 but took 3 years to get decision, lucky I applied at 41 or would have run out of time; the older you are the longer it takes.
Applying in your thirties seems to be the ideal age, it takes at least that long to realise that in a few years you may be living in another Beriut, in a biscuit barrel which costs 500 000.00 pounds (pardon the pun)

I think there are too many "UPS" being mentioned here and not enoughof the "DOWNS" And believe me there are scads of them.
The old tme pioneers were yough, and things ain't all that different now.
Nevertheless, if you take the plunge good luck to you.
I think any future family that you might have, will be the real beneficiaries.

Tyrone Biggums..... bloody foreigners taking our jobs..........
Oi, what about bloody foreigners starting new businessess and creating new jobs.
There is more than one face to a dice, try looking at all of the. it would seem that you only have a single headed coin:shootself
Immigrants do well because 'surfs up' dosen't mean 'stop work' to them.
