Isn't Australia really strict with its immigration and granting visas?

Yeah..Getting a working visa for a year to start with...the people I have spoke to said its not difficult to get it extended for a furthur year..after that is when the fun and games start with trying to actually stay there!

Its all done on a points system i think, Sort of like the one Goring Gull has for his 'Superfan' league table.

You get points for knowing a trade (Plumming, Building, Etc), having relitives out there or doing something to benifit the country, stuff like that.

Not sure how many points you need or what things give you the most points though.

Mabie we should have something like that in this country!

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
If that is the case how the hell did this lot get let in...

We've been toying with the idea too, although on a more permanent basis.

Here's some info on the Visa Points thingy. You can actually go through it and see if you might qualify.

Probably Sydney. I have rellies out there (see, I've got the lingo), and looking on jobsites there are plenty of jobs going in my industry (Techie Laser Printing bloke). Also got an Aussie chap working in my office at the moment who says he may be able to get his old company to sponsor me !!!

All still very much in the "thinking seriously about it" stage at the moment though.

It is a big move, but one that i dont regret making just over 5 years ago.

I came over on a working holiday visa which is dead easy to get and allows you to work for up to 3 months for any one employer as you fund your travels.

once that is run out, if you can get a longer term offer of work it is easy to get a Business Visa for 2 of 4 years either through that employer or through one of the many 'payroll companies' that exist out here - i use www.entitysolutions.com.au

Despite their superior attitude over the cricket (and I am heading to the MCG in a couple of hours for more embarrasment) Australia is a great country and i am sure you'll enjoy the experience of setting up and living over here.

Any more Q's, just ask...

Yeah were going over on working visa..to start the one I saw I think..and only think you can work for one employer for 6 months...which should be a little better. So you can get business visa through the company I could possibly work for? So they might sponser me to stay if im good enough?

The people are dead freindly arnt they?

How have you settled?
