I'm taking some interest in the hurricanes as I off to florida on 15th Oct, hopefully they will all have finished by then. Ivan's on his way now after Frances who when it hit Florida was TWICE the size of Germany!

But the peak is until mid october, so hopefully we will be ok. Most of them do miss the coast line once they meet the jet stream, which I guess is why we get high winds etc a couple of weeks after the hurricanes hit America as they are pushed this way, at least they are dying all the time they are heading towards us.

yeah you should be fine, no point worrying about it as you cant predict the weather when you make holiday bookings.

absolutely, it was booked in Jul 03!

At least the yanks know how to deal with adverse weather, if we ever had winds of that speed the country would be shut down for months

I heard this morning that all flights to Florida have been cancelled - don't know whether that situation has changed the evening. Fantastic link though.

Interesting that the USA was one of the few nations who conspicuously did NOT sign up to that global convention (I forget the official title) to cut pollution and in turn reduce the effects of global warming. Now its southern states are getting systematically raped by the most frequent and violent series of hurricaines since records began, and all down to...global warming.

Mother nature knows what she is doing, you know...
