More negatives than positives to come out of Pboro match?

What does everyone think?

OK we showed plenty of character to get back in the game, Leon Knight is looking a class above and the support was excellent.

BUT thats about it

Kuipers kicking is bordering on embarassing now, started their second goal with his appalling shank and his high floaty kicks are shite, Tyler proved a keeper who can kick flat and straight is an asset. Bring back Roberts I say.

Fullbacks are no-where, Mayo improved in 2nd half but Watson seems terrified of putting a tackle in and just backs off while is constantly beaten for pace.

Midfield is woeful, how many times did we pass the ball out of play during game. Pethick was anonymous, what has happened to Chippy driving towards goal and shooting while I was disgusted with Jones performance and think a spell in the reserves would do him good.

We need a striker too because as much as Mcphee huffs and puffs, hes never gonna be the clinical finisher Knight needs to feed off.

Am quite glad they didnt play particularly well for the only reason that Mcghee will have seen this in a match situation now and can see how blatantly obvious what needs changes and what players need to be bought in.

Any thoughts?

Totally agree about Kuipers kicking - it was schoolboy stuff, well probably not that good. Why doesn't he thrown the ball out? Perhaps because the fullbacks go awol when he has the ball.

At least we got a point !!

I think it definitely showed that we need a couple of loanees very quickly.

Jones should be dropped straight away even though he set up the first goal and the midfield needs reorganising.

Watto looked weak again and Mayo seemed to go mental in the first half.

All in all i think it was a game that McGhee would have looked at and seen who's up to the job and who isn't and f that is the case then it has to be a positive.

Think you are going OTT.

A few weeks ago, everyone was saying Kuipers is the best in the league. I think he deserves to be no 1.

Agree about Watto, the guy cannot defend. He would be better off in midfield. Bring back Hinshelwood.

We need a winger and a striker.

Carpenter is still a great player but being let down by those around him.

Perhaps we should learn to pass the ball to our own play who is just 5 yards away!

:jester:

This is something that I totally agree with. Recently our passing has been shit. If we cant hold onto the ball there is no hope.

I wasn't there, so can't really comment on individual or team performances.

But surely the best thing about Saturday is that MM has seen a team that needs to improve. Getting the team to improve is why he was appointed. He can start work immediately. If we'd have won 5-0, he might have been tempted to let things run for a while. And we know that isn't a good idea.

no point putting Watto in midfield, he can't tackle and can only pass with his left foot.

Midfield is undoubtedly weak, but that's been the case for years (albeit maybe not quite on this scale). I can't remember our last really inspiring or crowd-favourite midfielder. Maybe Danny Wilson??

Thank God we've got a new manager, I fully expect him to stamp his authority and get loanee(s) in within the next few days.

Then we'll be in a better position to get the best from our players who will have to work to get in the team.

Comon you Super Seagulls!

Giving the ball away to often is a joke as no one is hungry and makes you wonder if most are scared of having the ball.

How many times do you see certain players with plenty of space just give it away etc,but it is a major concern and if we make the playoffs i will be surprised at this rate.

Roll em out mc ghee:clap: :drink: :smokin:

Chippy is quite capable of being the ball winner in midfield, but he can't do that and link up with the forwards and give out all the passes. Edna, you are right, Wilson was the last really dominant midfielder. Lloyd failed to recognise the need and we've never really had anyone who compared with him. Neither Wilkins or Codner could tackle even if they could both pass. I felt it was a shame we didn't go for Rowlands of Brentford, who has now gone to QPR.
