I accept as we went on into the season the games got better but at this stage the match reports do not say we were showboating and 3-0 up

The 6-2 Torquay game at Withdean, I seem to recall us going 3-0 up and start showboating.

Unfortunately whilst we were showboating Torquay came back to 3-2 and it was dicey for a while until we went onto smash them.

I agree though, we played better football last time we were in the division, Bristol City away an example but I do think that is down to teams like Colchester where u cant play the beautiful game all the time.

Still improvement is needed

Brightonbird-I take we are talking about Coppell. I reckon his plan is to hit Henderson6 out of 7 passes. Failing that option, its knocked into the channels for either him or Knight to chase. I do like Coppell, I think he's a brilliant manager whos man to man skills are very good. My only worry is that he doesnt like making substitutions. If you listen to Palace fans they would agree with that.
Yorkie-In that season we started off very slowly, didnt we draw 2-2 at home with Kiddeminster and the team were booed off??
You cant get it right straight away, Im not saying we should and we didnt under Adams. However, by October time we had us playing superbly and the players believed (so did the fans) that we would win every game we played which was 1 of his strengths. We played with a lot of style and pace. We would almost agree with Gareth about the Adams statement being the most ridiculous ever heard!!

we played great football under MA at times. that cant be argued against.

can it??

I don't think anyone ever said that we played bad football under him.

I said that the style of play was different to Coppells and IMHO Coppell is trying to get a better standard of play then MA.

Oh wait a minute...I don't know anything. Ignore me

The Adams hoof it game was quite possibly the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard. We played superb passing football on the deck often show boating at 3-0 up with 20 or so passes between players without the opposition touching it. I can only assume Brightonbird did not have a season ticket 2/3 years ago.

When Adams first came and we had his team at Withdean (rather than Brian Horton's oddjobs) he wanted to play a "high tempo" game with lots of service to the front men. This mean trying to play at about 150mph and consequently loads of mindless hoofing then ensued....................

No we lost 2-0 and were rightly booed off. But the squad was a lot stronger then, than it is now.

This is precisely the point I have been trying to make here and on Gareth's thread.
It is still September and it is soon soon to say we aren't going to do anything other than mid table mediocrity or that we are rubbish.

Jones is back in the line up for tomorrow according to a text I have just received and I am sure we will win tomorrow.

We'll all feel differently then

Just because someone doesn't agree with you dont give it the " well what do I know "routine. We all have our opinions! ( Even if Nelson's are rubbish - LOL)

If you look back disspationately at the Adams era, we were bloody fortunate is quite a fair few games ( Cardiff/Reading etc etc) and yes, we played some pretty mediochre stuff, but the difference from there to now is simple ( in my eyes)

last year, we played as best we could against some pretty decent teams. We competed in most games and were beaten in games where we battered sides ( Walsall away) Using walsall as an example, it was a similar sort of situation to Colchester. They were not on too good a run we were playing decenet football but not getting the results ( Oh Ok we played crap against Swindon but you know what I mean) the difference is we had a real good go at Walsall...we passed the ball out wide/ through the middle/ over the top. saturday on teh other hand, we looked as though we had never played together before. The midfield did no play a s a unit, there was no-one out wide and our attempt at hitting hoofs to Henderson and Knight didnt work as the centre backs for Colchester were wise to it.

What most annoyed me on Saturday was 1. our total lack of ability to break down a poor side and 2. Our poor display in midfield and 3. our lack of fight.

Take it with a pinch of Salt BrightonBird. Your reply should be something along the line of this

"tut tut tut well what do men know about knitting?"

Sorry Italia - if it was said in jest then OK (god you do it all the time and do I complain..?)

That, coupled with the posts he has replied to me in general, was just offensive.

I'm not even going to reply to GN. He's really starting to wind me up now.

And no it's not PMT!

Light hearted joke-get over it!! Crying and going on about it only make you look worse as Dtg has said

Shame on you Gary. It was a put down and you know it.

If one of the blokes on here had disagreed with you, you would have just carried on with the discussion.
