Molango...???

So what's the deal with this Molango guy, anyone know?

I got all excited to hear we'd signed a player from Atletico Madrid and then scoring the first goal of the inaugural championship season made the anticipation even greater.

But suddenly he disappears from the teamsheet and we resort to using defenders for strikers. Did he get injured or is he just not very good?

I can't get down to see the Albion play regularly unfortunately, and despite living in Sussex we can only pick up Carlton TV which only shows highlights of London clubs. Interestingly, when I lived in Hampshire the local highlights programme seemed more interested in the Albion than premiership Southampton, which was great obviously. Now, however I am forced to suffer the misery of only receiving footage of lesser clubs such as Arsenal and Chelsea.

Still, on the positive side, I can look forward each week to watching the goals fly past Palace's keeper on their way back to the Championship.

He is still around but struggling to adapt to english footy. I am sure he will be good in time but can not header for toffee at the moment thus we can not use him as a target man

Mahe is not a target man.

He is more like Knight and can score with his feet. He will score goals when he is more used to the English style of play and is excellent to bring on as a sub for Leon or for when Leon is injured or suspended.

MM has said he is still looking for a target man. Virgs has been operating in that role temporarily.

He had a blinding first 14 seconds of the season!

He needs to improve his first touch dramatically & learn how to hold the ball up.....like Bobby Z used to do.

(No, not comparing him to Sir Bob!)

He is very raw, but has a good attitude and a great teacher in McGhee, who's been there, done it as a centre forward.

He played well 1st game and looked up for it but was pretty awful since, anonymous contributions and the team has played better without him. God only knows what we can use him for if he doesn`t improve, cos as hes got a 3 yr contract! Kit washer? No thats being cruel, if he can play like he did on the 1st day consistently then he could be an asset and I`m prepared to give any player time to find himself, especially as it can take time for players to settle at new clubs, but the jury is definitely out for now. I must thank him for scoring the 1st goal against reading though cos he won me 40 quid!

Molango will be quality given time, i saw him also at Crawley where he tucked 2 goals away very nicely. A slight shadow of Mr T Henry I might add. I feel that is how he wants to play ball at his feet. He has pace, enough skill and the finishing ability to make it at Championship standard providing he can settle.

The English game is soooo much different to the foreign leagues, which happen to all be very similar, which makes the english the best in the world.

We must give Meheta time. There seems to be little doubt that he has ability. Let's make sure we develop this carefully to ensure that we get the best out of him. He is on a 3 year contract so arguably there is no hurry.

Why not loan him out to a lower division club to let him get some experience ?

He's clearly not a Championship quality player yet and a three month loan to a League 1 or 2 club could build his experience in the English leagues. It could also save a few quid in the short term, and he would be a more experienced player upon his return.

I definitely see him as a prospect for the future but not this season.

Surely not a good idea to loan out any strikers at the moment!!... also, he may improve quickly enough to make a good contribution THIS season... far too early to be thinking about farming him out to the lower divisions...
