Bouncing this old thread.

My (elderly) Dad is in Saltdean.
He has an oldish but low mileage Renault Megane that, after making a few peculiar noises, now won't start and has no electricals.

** probably a battery, or fuse - but that is unfortunately beyond him now ....

The car is stuck in his garage, but without any electrics, he can't release the electronic handbrake, which makes access to the car (opening a door or bonnet, etc.) very tricky.
His driveway is also very short and steep, so even with the handbrake released, will be tricky to pull it out of his garage (needs seeing to visualise). Probably needs a winch ....

As he can't get this to a garage, he'll need a mobile (come to me) mechanic.

Any recommendations? - asking NSC as my dad is elderly and I don't want him taken advantage of.

NB. We've already had the discussion about giving up driving due to his age - he's still okay to drive, and in any case, will need to get the car fixed to sell it if he does decide to give up driving.
If its like the scenic we had, there is an emergency handbrake release under the carpet in the boot. Worth a look.

Give Dave a call here, very helpful and genuine.

I've used him a couple of times. He specialises in car electrics too.

Have a read of his reviews.
