Welcome to Opening Day 2011

Oh how I wish I was in St Louis this afternoon. Starting our season with a home game against San Diego.
Or New York, Washington, Cincinnatti or Kansas City for that matter. Or then perhaps in LA tonight.

Opening Day games on Thursday highlight rivalries around baseball | MLB.com: News

I'm not as confident about the Redbirds chances this year because I can't see how we are going to manage without Adam Wainwright. But like the first day of the football season, its all to play for starting today.

I'm a bit lukewarm with Baseball. Got into it a few years ago, and that lasted for 2-3 years, but I've sort of drifted away from it lately. Making a renewed effort this season though, and have been looking forward to today for a little while now.

Go Red Sox!

Barry, taking some friends from the UK to the Mets Cardinals game in July. Mets are good value this season as they’ve dropped their prices by 15%. Plus the whole Citi Field experience is way better than the New Yankee Stadium.

The Mets could be in big financial trouble as their owner is being sued for $300 million which he allegedly made out of the Bernie Madoff scam.

I’d back the Red Sox this year. The series against the Yankees coming up on April 8 will be a good indicator.

Wow, I'm so envious of that trip. I took my kids to a two game set at Citi Field two years ago.
The first of the two was won in extras and was one of the best games I ever saw. The second we lost.
I hope your UK friends take up with the Cardinals, and there's every chance as long as Franklin doesn't blow yet another save like he's done today in the opener.
I have no plans yet to see them this year, but do have tickets to the Giants on 4th July !

Werth gone, Utley out indefinitely and Jose Contreras closing? You won't even win the NL East with Atlanta stronger this year.

Go Marlins!

Utley is back fielding grounders and should be back fairly soon. We'll see about Contreras, but I'm very confident in the Phills rotation.

They will clinch the NL East. No doubt

7-1. Good result for the Mets last night in their series with the Phillies and a great debut by Chris Young becoming the first pitcher in Mets history to have two base hits in one innings and the highest batting average in baseball history.

I think it's fair to say that sadly the Boston Red Sox's season hasn't quite got off to the start they were hoping for.

I predict Texas vs Yankees in AL Championship, Phillies vs Reds in NL, Phillies/Yankees WS with the winner dependent upon how successful Chase Utley recovers from his injury.
