Just read this on another Dutch website. Translation is a bit odd.

'Mitchell Dijks of Holland club AjaxFC is interesting English second level team FC Brighton. FC Brighton have tracked dutch player in defense for 14 months. Mr David Burke of club England has visit Mitchell on many occasions. However more news is about interest from FC Torquay United of also England have spoken to Dijks. Because this FC Brighton now have no f**king chance of land Ajax star.'

If we sign him, then many opposing fans will be making jokes about us having Dijks at the back. Or if he is particularly physical, " That Dijks is hard".
.

We've got big Dijks,
We've got big Dijks,
We've got big, We've got big,
We've got big Dijks,

We need to stop Dijking about and sign him up!

I hope we don't cock this up. We would look right Dijks!

Surely it would be pronounced as 'Dykes'?

Thus opening up an entire different ange on the homophobic chanting, rather than DICK based gags...

Youth player that never lived up to potential. Honestly , bit of a donkey and pretty useless.

Sounds promising then....

From goal.com's Dutch site (via google translate):

Because Ajax Nicolai Boilesen, Nick Viergever and possibly even Daley Blind has plenty of options at left back, coach Frank de Boer thinks that it is better for the dikes to seek his fortune elsewhere.
. Can't be that good if even Daley Blind is considered before him!

The stripes suit him.

I have to say I like the look of him.

Might be shit at football of course, but he is a good looking lad.

If he was playing regularly for Heerenveen, he can't be that bad, as I think the Dutch First Division is of a reasonable standard. What worries me about the whole Ward thing is that if we start with Chicksen and then drop him for a new signing, that can't have a very good effect on his development (of course he may prove me wrong and keep any new signing out of the side, but I personally don't think he's up to a regular first team place at present). I won't join in with a pun - I was going to say I was as happy as Larry if we'd signed Adam Clayton, and look where that got us.

I would doubt that we'd start with Chicksen. It's more likely to be Hughes or Calderon.

Sensible, until everybody piles on with how good/bad he is based on their quick search internet knowledge of him.

Here are some FACTS:

He was loaned to Heerenveen last season, playing regularly.
He has played at all levels of the Netherlands youth set up.
He has floppy hair.
If we sign him, then many opposing fans will be making jokes about us having Dijks at the back. Or if he is particularly physical, " That Dijks is hard".
I may be tempted to make similar jokes, to be honest.

Be worse if he was a whimp... That Dijks is soft !

If he signs may Isuggest
I got creative when it looked that we were going to sign Virgil last year but never got to use it
It works with Mitchell but had to add Big to his name.
To the tune of Windmill in Old Amsterdam

It seems crazy that we are going in to the first game of the season having sold our main striker, without a first choice striker or left back. I'm not panicking but even the most optimistic fan must think it's a bit bonkers. Anyway, I'm sure there's a method to the madness somewhere.
