Not sure GPS works 1 foot down, does it? Relies on satellites.
Anyway, here's the full video...
The door is shut - from the outside - with 17 bolts!
(I appreciate that having a door which opens from the inside wouldn't make any difference, but still...)
Was it too difficult to make the sub able to be opened from the inside? I don't quite understand why you would do that.

I get the start of a panic attack if I spend too much time thinking about what they're doing/going through. Five people sitting in a 6m long tube, 2.4 miles under the sea, with limited oxygen just waiting to either die or be rescued and there's absolutely nothing they can do about it. It's horrific.
You’re right - GPS doesn’t work in water….
It is horrific. One can only hope that if they pass away, it was catastrophic and rapid.

It's genuinely incredible how stupid some of the suggestions are from people on Twitter, especially the ordinary folk who think that somehow they've come up with an idea that hundreds of marine rescue specialists hadn't thought of.
Earlier I saw somebody suggesting they send a diver down with a rope to pull it up. I mean, for the love of....

It's mad that other than being rescued alive that that's the next best outcome. But it is. It's better than running out of oxygen after four days of no oxygen and presumably very limited food/water and all the attendent horror that comes with the situation.

The CO2 will slowly kill them ,( they will just drift off to a permanent sleep )not the lack of Oxygen.
It does seem strange as they must not be able to blow their ballast tanks either or drop any weights they might have been carrying to have the ability to submerge in the first place

How long were they supposed to be in the tin death-trap ? It looks horrendously claustrophobic, cramped and uncomfortable as it is for any time at all, let alone for potentially days.
Journey down was 2.5hr, I think? Similar back up, I guess... plus a few hours poking around.

It’s been reported that the ditchable ballast is biodegradable, meaning that in the event it couldn’t be manually ditched it would naturally fall away ‘in due course’.
One hopes that ‘due course’ is less time than the amount of O2 supply, and that the submersible is not stuck on/in something on the sea bed.
IF all that is true, and that’s a lot of ‘ifs’ it may come up to the surface even if it’s totally incapacitated. Let’s hope so - it’s got to be materially easier to rescue the crew from a vehicle on the surface than n thousand metres under water.

Just to confirm, found something indicating it’s an 8 hour trip in total so that sounds spot on
