Minidisc/microphone help!!

I am getting a Sony MZ-RH1 minidisc recorder for Christmas. I am planning on ordering/making a battery box to prevent overload.. BUT

Can anyone recommend a low visibility, high quality microphone to use? I will need it to record concerts/shows etc. Any models/makes/advice would be appreciated!!

I've used a Sony m/disc to bootleg a couple of gigs and I think I'm right in saying that m/disc mics require battery power to make them operate, making them a fair size? I've gone into gigs with the mic down my y-fronts hoping not to get frisked. Perhaps there might be one that takes a small battery and is therefore less obtrusive? Web-search perhaps?

Thanks. Most mics work on all minidiscs via the "plug in power" port, but can be subject to "overload". If you plug them through the "line in" port you're right, they'll need a battery box..

Nice one mate. I don't know what overload is, but just a thought, I found that when I adjusted the recording levels manually upwards, the drums just overwhelmed the whole recording, which was a shame as, being a gig, it was obviously a one-off situation. The second time I just left the recording level on auto and it came out loads better.

Btw It's quite funny listening back to a recording and getting the crowd around you's conversation/applause etc.
