Mind if I crash at your place again?

TWELVE months ago, a car crashed into Gordon White’s house and ended up in his living room. On Tuesday in a freakish twist of misfortune, the same driver again crashed into Mr White’s house, on the same day, at the same time and became embedded in the same room.
Not surprisingly last night, the unlucky grandfather spoke about his “total disbelief” at the two accidents in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire which represented Mr White’s very own Groundhog Day.
“I still can’t believe it. It was bad enough the first time round, but for it to happen again and by the same guy, well it’s something from a movie script,” said the retired father of two.
He was returning from a shopping trip on Tuesday afternoon when a neighbour told him of the incident.
“My first reaction was just to laugh, I know most people would have been angry but there’s nothing I can do about it,” said the widower.
It was exactly one year to the day since Eric Williams, 60, first crashed his car into the semi-detached house where Mr White has lived for 40 years. The Ford Escort crashed through his fence, over his lawn and into his front living room window.
“It took nine weeks to clear up all the mess last time, and a full year for me to decorate,” said Mr White. “I’ve only just finished getting the house how I want it. If I’d have know this would happen I’d have chosen cheaper wallpaper.”
Last night Mr Williams admitted he had been driving for 40 years with only a provisional licence.
