These selected comments are taken directly from the chairman's column in yesterday's Millwall/Forest programme.

Brief context - Palace had (three) pages in a recent programme slagging off Millwall for sacking McGhee, along the lines of "eighth is as good as you will ever get, you're not as big as us" etc etc.

PEOPLE IN GLASS HOUSES

"The great thing about local rivalries is that when things are going pear-shaped at home you can have a pop at your local neighbour. Step forward Crippled Alice.

"Having finished above the Beagles for the last two seasons, they probably can't understand how we can want for anything more.

"Having won just one of their last 12 league games [this was before the, ahem, 5-0 drubbing at Wigan - make that 13] it is understandable they should view Division One survival as a cause for wild celebration. At least their midweek win at Blackpool shows they'll cope all right with Division Two.

"Maybe the fact they are at the mercy of one Ron Noades as to whether they continue to play at Smellhurst Park makes them so insecure.

"The accusation I made a knee-jerk decision over\Wise is choice coming from a club from whom the words 'knee' and 'jerk' should be woven into the club crest.

"I bumped into Simon Jordan in a bar in Spain recently, and who should he be talking to but Mark Goldberg. 'Oh look', I said, 'the man who wrecked Crystal Palace talking to the man that's about to'.

"Mark McGhee left us on good terms, and I wish him all the best, especially if he gets the Seagulls promoted as that will annoy the Smellhurst suburbanites even more."

You have to say - he really hates them.

I watched every thrilling second of that game, it was marvellous to see. Particularly when they kept flicking to shots of the beardy twat Jordan in the stand looking more and more pissed off.

Crippled Alice blasted
By PAUL JIGGINS

MILLWALL chairman Theo Paphitis has launched a scathing attack on Crystal Palace chief Simon Jordan.

Paphitis also taunted his south London rivals by referring to them as ‘Crippled Alice’ and ‘The Beagles’ and dubbing their stadium ‘Smellhurst Park.’

He tipped Palace for relegation and forecast that Jordan would wreck the club like his predecessor Mark Goldberg almost did.

The south London pair were close pals but Paphitis is incensed by a recent Palace programme article which blasted his ‘knee jerk’ decision to sack manager Mark McGhee.

Paphitis said: “The great thing about local rivalries is that when things are going pear-shaped at home, you can have a pop at your neighbour.

“Step forward our good friends at Crippled Alice who took umbrage with our decision to part company with Mark.

“Having finished above The Beagles in the last two seasons, they probably can’t understand how we can want for anything more.”

Paphitis also hit back at Palace’s criticism of Lions’ caretaker boss Dennis Wise.

He said: “To slag off Dennis, a player they tried to sign and who has won more than they could ever dream of, shows what a small-minded club they are.

“The accusation that I made a knee-jerk decision is choice coming from a club for whom ‘knee’ and ‘jerk’ should be interwoven into their club crest.”

I should think some lawyers will get some impending work out of this.

Top stuff though but certainly bordering on slander.
