The current strikes are a pain and have altered our Xmas plans and upset a few family who can't now be together. Which in the grand scheme of things, not that bigger deal tbh compared to some issues people around the world are having.

I don't have a full grasp of the nuances of the strike, but agree with the principles.

Good Morning Britain viewers have mocked presenter Richard Madeley for his conduct during an interview with union boss Mick Lynch. The interview saw Madeley repeatedly interupt Lynch and talk at length in condemnation of the strikes, at one point telling the exasperated interviewee to “jog on”.

One of the interesting things about party conference season is how Labour is always portrayed as being at conflict and the Tories as unified when it's nothing of the sort. The Labour conference is where policy is debated and decided, therefore of course there will be robust discussion, disagreements, and different points of view, whereas the Tory conference is just self-congratulatory jingoism. Labour's relatively democratic approach to decision making actually unites them as a party far more than the "internal war" the media likes to portray, and far more than the Tories on most issues. The Tories just do it in private (or they used to anyway, not so much anymore).

I think this might be termed as 'an own goal' in the football parlance.

Labour will not be irrelevant if they are in power, and can only start to repair the damage if they get elected.

Where are you getting your figures from?
10 million that actively despise unions?

We're lucky to get 70% turn out in an election.
If 10 million of them actively despised Unions, you would think that it would be the biggest Policy debate in every election.
It rarely is.

I love the bloke but I think to appeal to the modern working class man rather than preaching that ordinary working people shouldn't be poor and have a decent standard of living, he should put 2 union jacks in his living room, that seems to have more impact
