given the long lay off and mention of injury, presumably somthing that wouldnt fix and he's mediaclly retired.

After injury players sometimes take the compensation and cannot then play in the top leagues. Mark Lawrenson did this and played for Chesham Utd and there has been ocassions when a player has done that and the team got into the FL but that player couldnt play. There was a goal keeper in the last few years it happened to, cannot remember his name.

Mike Marsh got promoted to the league with a couple of clubs and had to drop back down.
