He would say that though, wouldn't he? He's been on Easy Street at Man U, trousering a fat wedge every month for doing....well, not a lot really. Nice work if you can get it. He's more interested in his horses these days I suspect. If he can get a final big payday conveniently close to Cheshire, he'll no doubt take it. If not? Well, I guess he'll be mucking out the horse shit at the stables & concentrating on making a few quid from his horses?

Whatever, he's not likely to come here & imo, he'd be a potentially expensive liability, given his fitness track record.

Hopefully he'll sign for somebody else soon & the whole will he/won't he saga will be done. Until the next time............

"The Championship is not an option. I'd like to think I haven't lost the ability to score goals and play at the highest level," he told Sky Sports News.

End of thread, then?

With him saying that he won't drop down to championship, the way I see it is him and bloom have seen the odds of 4/1 on him joining Brighton so he made that statement so the odds will drift and him and bloom lump on some money and everyone's a winner, and he signs for Brighton

That's his way of saying "please, please can I stay in the premiership? I'll sit on your bench for just 20k a week! And I'm still good! I have stuck my leg back on with selotape and it should be fine for at least 3 minutes. Please don't make me go down, the championship is really horrible and it smells funny."

I'm not saying he will sign for us, but when he realises there may be no prem clubs who want him, I think his views may change. Either that or he is totally deluded.

I think it suggests just what it says, that he is not prepared to drop down to The Championship. Premiership, then maybe look at the latest rich Russian club, or the middle east, or MLS. If none of them come forward with a tempting offer, I think he'll retire.

No Premier League club will sign him, except maybe Southampton or QPR - and thats pushing it if they would. Cant see any Russian or Middle East clubs going for him - more likely for a US club or maybe one in Australia - bit like what Robbie Fowler did.

In all honesty I can see him signing for Wigan, ticks all the boxes from Owen's point of view (plays week in week out, plays good football under a good manager, near to his home etc) and I'm sure dave whelan would love to have him there.

Can we just all agree that Michael Owen is NOT coming to Brighton and get this ridiculous idea out of our heads, it's not happening end of.

I seem to recall that Wigan have bid for Owen before.
