Mental Driving

I remembered seeing a clip from a film shot from a car driving around Paris at mental speeds, did a search on YouTube and found this:

Think that the one I was looking for was a more modern version of this one, my guess from the amount of traffic and the types of cars on the road is that it was shot about 30 years ago. It is a little grainy, but the best thing for me is the sound of the engine and the squeal of the tyres, which suggest that it is real.

A friend loaned it to us on DVD - quite amazing for its time. I thought it was real too although I didn't think he was going as fast as you'd like to think he was going...

Hate to spoil it for you guys but this one has been proved to be fake, speeded up and sound track added. It was all about how the gear chnages were done.... the long straight section after the arc is all wrong, listen to the gear changes, red lining it in the wrong place and not extending the revs in others, especially as it approaches cars and drops a gear then speeds up again....

Not spoiled at all - just turn the sound off and watch the pictures - the driving isn't faked, its not as fast as you think - but its just the soundtrack which is of a completely different car aparently...

This IS real and is completely mental, no co pilot and the part where the sun is getting in his eyes as he approaches a 14K feet drop is just crazy!! Love the bug being splatted on the camera too, also the part where he nearly looses the backend off the cliff!!

Cool - rallying is mental although the sound in that clip is a bit odd in places! don't doubt the driving though.... friends up the road who rally a 206 parked theirs in a pond during a rally on Saturday!!
