Very sad news, Smith & Jones was one of my favourite shows as a teenager. Mel smith was a very funny and talented man that created Talkback production company that also produced very funny stuff.
Does anyone else remember Mel smiths funny and forgotten beeb 2 comedy Colin's Sandwich?

That was one of the funniest sketches ever, had me in tears when i first saw that in late eighties
i think.
They filmed that series in Hellingly. They took over the Golden Martlet pub and car park in one sketch
when they were coppers in a police car. As they were outside between shoots one of the
landlords came out and asked if there was a Mr Green Rice Jones on set because there was a phone
call for him. Classic
RIP Mel, a comedy genius.
