It's seems everyone on this thread has assumed the meeting was regarding transfers in one direction.

I put it to you that Dalglish is looking to strengthen his back four, and is offering £6m (plus appearance related bonuses and 40% of future transfer fees) for Tommy Elphick...

Seriously, this should come as no great surprise given Liverpool's excellent value for money transfer policy...

Is that Charlie's valuation? Because if he said £5m you would offer £6m just to be on the safe side....

Rediculous, he's first team

As I said. long odds. But he isn't established in the first team (squad number 45?) and got knocked back by injury last season failing to make the squad when he was fit. Plus Liverpool are seemingly intent on starting next season with a whole new squad which might put him back further. So not likely as I already said but not impossible and answers all our defensive wants if it could happen.

I expect they're trying to offload Joe Cole

Out of all the youngsters Liverpool played towards the end of the season this lad is the best by a country mile. He broke into the team under Roy in the middle of the season and continued under Kenny until he got a bad injury that kept him out until the end of the season, he was widely regarded as the best defender to come out of Liverpools academy since Carragher. He had been playing (and keeping Johnson out of the team) at right back when his natural position is centre back. Im sure he will be a future England centre back.

IF we do manage to get him it will be absolutely immense

If this rumour is true, then we could potienally get a really decent player from Liverpool on loan.
Benitez recruited some of Europe's best young prospects over the last three years, the fruits are now starting to come through now.

The Under-17's team is seriously good, a few of them are playing with Jakey in the World Cup at the moment.
Everybody seems to know about Raheem Sterling, but I reckon he will be considered for a few pre-season games if he carries on his form and potential into the start of next season.

Other players that would be great additions to the squad next season would be;
Suso - he's even better prospect than Pacheco. He's a Spanish attacking midfielder, so that could be attraction for Suso to be coached by Gus.
Adam Morgan - Mentioned by Darren Freeman Perm. Morgan is a very good midfielder - mentioned in the same bracket as the next Steven Gerrard.
Conor Coady - Solid Centre-back with a bit of pace as well. Can play the holding midfield role as well.
Martin Hansen - Decent Danish Keeper - highly rated with Schmeichel singing his praises recently. Liverpool will be bringing in another back up keeper to Reina, so one of their youngsters will be loaned out next season.
Andre Wisdom - Another one of the 17 year olds playing in the World Cup at the moment. Very powerful centre-back, that would win headers allday long!

Adam Morgan looked good when he came on as a late sub for England U17s last night, looked to have the beating of the Argie's defence creating two good chances. See the thread re the match. But would Liverpool want to release such a talent - or maybe loan him to us for development?

Jake looked the part too, and didn't get enough credit from the commentators.

Both scored in the penalty shoot out, no pressure there then. Stiff test to come against the Germans in the quarter finals.

Indeed most of their youngsters would be great. Isn't it usually 19-22 year olds who get loaned out by top 6 teams though rather than 17 year olds?

can't see us signing a right back from Liverpool on loan as he (and they) would expect him to play regularly and with Calde in the side that isn't going to happen.
