Mark McGhee's managerial career

Team From To Games Won Lost Drawn

Millwall 25-09-2000 15-10-2003 163 75 49 39

Wolves 13-12-1995 05-11-1998 159 65 55 39

Leicester 14-12-1994 07-12-1995 51 16 21 14

Reading 10-05-1991 14-12-1994 183 79 53 51

Makes pretty good reading, won more than he's lost and 2 division 2 titles, exciting times

just a superb appointment.

-- He averages 2 points a game (roughly) how many managers out there can boast that

--he's firey and passionate (will NOT accept rubbish) ie players would have been sacked after the last 3 games if he was here.

--Reading fans hate him (always a bonus)

--Premiership experience

--still got the hunger

....and some people still wanted Dowie, why??

So he stayed at

Millwall - 3 years
Wolves - 2 yrs 11 mths
Leic - 1 year
Reading - 3 yrs 7 mths

Seeing as Coppell stayed 12 months and Taylor even shorter, I don't see his (dis)loyalty is much of an issue. Bit harshly treated on that score I reckon.

4 jobs at an average of over 2 and a half years is a decent track record for me. Didn't quit in 2 of those posts, but was harshly (Wolves) and extremely harshly (Millwall) sacked in 2 of them.

Definitely a winning manager.

He is a very good manager, just the sort of person we need to tell the players that recent performances are not acceptable!

There was some criticism of the style of play, and he was starting to get a bit of stick from some of the fans, but nothing that suggested a sacking was about to happen. They were 8th in Div 1 for fcuks sake.

Guess that shows how fans and even board members always want more, and are never truly satisfied.

I'll never forget leaving Withdean after a 1-0 win under Taylor. We were top of the table and heading for ANOTHER title, and I heard a guy grumbling "I'm sick of this, we only ever win 1-0."

Does anyone know why exactly he was fired by Millwall??

Most people in football suggest he was very harshly treated by getting the bullet at Millwall. I hjave also heard today that his assistant at Millwall is getting the blame by the fans for his sacking.

...and the same could be said of your manager, Royal (although admittedly, he is not fat).

Quite true, was speaking to me me mate Mark last night (Millwall Fan)... he really hates Archie Knox, the ex-Millwall number2.
