From the official website, makes for good positive reading I think, although would like to see a youngster tried in midfield as dont think Pethick and Carpenter is the best pairing.
Mark McGhee makes his first appearance at Withdean as Albion manager tonight for the visit of Boston United, and although he realises that the LDV Vans Trophy is not one of the more prestigous tournaments in the domestic calendar, he is determined to put on an exciting show for the supporters.
McGhee spoke of his desire for attacking football before the Peterborough match, and once again, his thirst for a good, attacking display tonight is unrepenting.
In an interview for Seagulls World, McGhee explained, "With it being the LDV you almost expect a subdued atmosphere, but what gets a crowd going in games like these is goals!
"You don't come along to games like these wanting to see a dour 0-0 draw, so we want to go out there and show our intent. We want to show that at home, we're going to pass the ball, we're going to be direct, we're going to be offensive and we're going to be positive.
"That's the way it's got to be. We're going to play with no fear, and we're going to try and win the game."
Winning the game may, on paper, seem a straightforward task, escpecially given that Boston currently lie in 17th position in Division Three owing largely to their woeful away form - they have won only once in nine matches away from the York Street Stadium this season.
However, Boston did knock Swindon Town out of the competition in the previous round thanks to a late effort from Adebayo Akinfenwa. In addition, the chance of reaching the final and playing in the Millenium Stadium, Cardiff, is a huge incentive for any club, as McGhee points out.
"Boston are from a division lower than us, and as you go down the divisions this competition is an opportunity to do something like getting to Cardiff," he said.
"I'm sure they'll be taking this game as seriously as any team will take this tournament. We're going to have to be at our best."
That being said, McGhee is still going to use the match as an opportunity to get a glimpse of some other members of his squad. As revealed on seagulls.co.uk yesterday, 19-year-old Adam El-Abd is to be given his first-team debut in place of Danny Cullip, and McGhee is also likely to want to see Adam Hinshelwood in action.
Furthermore, tonight is a big opportunity for Ben Roberts to stake his claim for the number-one goalkeeping spot. Michel Kuipers has been in control of the keeper's gloves since Roberts was sidelined with a back problem in mid-September, but McGhee sees tonight as the perfect opportunity to view the former Chalrton and Middlesbrough stopper in action.
"Ben Roberts will come in," said McGhee. "We have two goalkeepers who are both capable of playing in goal in the League, so I want to see how Ben's looking at the moment and then I can assess the options that I have."
Expected Line-Ups
Albion: (4-4-2) Roberts; Hinshelwood, El-Abd, Butters, Mayo; Hart, Carpenter, Pethick, Jones; Knight, McPhee. Subs: Kuipers (GK), Watson, Wilkinson, Harding, Piercy.
Boston: (4-4-2) Bastock; Hogg, Greaves, Chapman, Beevers; L Thompson, Rusk, Ellender, Weatherstone; Douglas, Duffield. Subs: Croudson (GK), Clarke, Sutch, Hocking, Potter.
