Mcghee invites fans down to the training ground to witness "team spirit"

It just gets better!! the argus is now just a parody of NSC and Mcghee laps it up like an idiot...like I said on another thread you couldn't make this shit up!!

From the argus...

Albion manager Mark McGhee today revealed his deep disappointment at the way players like Michel Kuipers have reacted to being left out of the side.

McGhee says they have a duty to support their team-mates, even if they feel hard done by.

Goalkeeper Kuipers was axed from the squad for last Saturday's game at Coventry following an angry reaction to being replaced by Wayne Henderson for the home match against Burnley four days earlier.

It was the latest in a series of outbursts by players over team selection.

Leon Knight, now at Swansea, stormed out of Withdean when McGhee left him out against Hull before Christmas.

Flo Chaigneau followed suit when Kuipers was preferred against QPR on Boxing Day, then Kuipers had heated discussions with McGhee and coach Dean White as Chaigneau took over for the trip to Southampton on January 2.

Meanwhile, out-of-favour forward Mark McCammon aired grievances on the BBC Southern Counties Radio phone-in after the Burnley match.

"It disappoints me massively," McGhee said. "Apart from anything else they have got a responsibility to their team-mates, regardless about how they feel about me.

"At the end of the day I have got to make these decisions and if they fall out with me because of that they still have a duty to their team-mates to support them.

"Michel doesn't seem to be able to accept that we are making the decisions on the goalkeeper based on performance.

"Michel played really well in the Reserves to the point where I had no option but to put him in against Leeds.

"He did really well against Leeds. I thought he had a poor second half against Sheffield United and, on the strength of that, I decided to play Wayne, nothing else.

"I think that was proven right in terms of Wayne's distribution against Burnley, which gave us the opportunity to win the game although we didn't go on to win it.

"Wayne kept his place and his performance on Saturday justified that again. I thought he was terrific, even though in the second half more was asked of him at a time when he was struggling a bit with his hip.

"Michel hasn't accepted that and therefore isn't in the right frame of mind to be sitting ready to come off the bench."

McGhee insists morale in the camp remains high and has invited doubting fans to see it for themselves.

"We have a fantastic spirit, a wonderful spirit, and anyone suggesting otherwise can come up to training and witness it for themselves," he added. "There is an open invitation."

Just don't expect a lift home on the team bus. The roads of Sussex must be littered with Brighton players walking home who haven't had a falling out with MM!

So are you suggesting the players pick the team? We are in the shit, for a variety of reasons and it is inevitable players will be pissed off at being dropped. It's not as if any of those dropped were contributing enough to be guaranteed a starting place.

MM is absolutely spot on and maybe players who are creating unrest should be shown the door or told to keep it to themselves. The current situation is bleak enough without player anarchy taking over. Letting the players dictate team selection is not an option.

No I'm suggesting that Mcghee shuts the f*** up in the press about this before more damage is done!

Yes lets show the players the door, the squad is clearly large enough

They have the option of accepting the decision and getting their heads down and proving McGhee wrong, just lie OGH has done. If they choose not to or bitch in public, do we really need or want them here?

He's trying to draw a line under it and move on. Hopefully the few disaffected team-members will do the same.

There are those (normally those who continually push forward their "contacts" at the club, play the "I've been a fan since 1827" card, or qualify themselves as uberfans) who mock those that are concerned about events at the club. There are those who refuse to see anything to worry about until events are fully played out. And there are those who think that all is not well on various fronts at the club. The arguments seem to consist of historical achievements versus an uncertain future, and appear to descend into puerility within about 5 or 6 posts. Loyalty to MM is commendable, but not when there is a deliberate refusal to accept that even occasionally he makes mistakes. Blind loyalty is worrying.

Everyone has the right to their opinions, and I suppose we won't know who had the most justifiable approach until the last match of the season is played.

By replaying conversations that I have had with people at the club. I am working through the 1947-48 season of memories at the moment - I attended every single match, home, away, reserve, youth and training ground 5-a-sides that season....

Seriously? By worrying what will happen to the club that I support, hoping that I have got it wrong, and that they have got it under control, and everything will work out perfectly.

And if he makes no comment about it you'll accuse him arrogance and not addressing the 'fans' concerns. Nothing will please you.

This has nothing to do with blind faith, history or arselicking.

One side of the fence can see/accept that the manager and players are doing their best and that that just might not prove to be good enough to keep us up. Not that we want to go down or don't care, it's just the way it is.

On the other side is the need for blame, scapegoats and insults.

I suggest that anyone thinking of attending training to witness the team spirit takes a pair of boots as the chances of getting a game are probably quite high.

It doesn't matter what he does, the damage will be done if we don't get a striker worthy of the name in the next couple of weeks.

This sort of offer is completely worthless. I don't care what team spirit is like as long as we start winning a few games.
