All very good points, but I would also like to add that it seemed when we were going forward, the midfield were there supporting the attack and thus we were able to put some crosses into the box. The team looked, well like a team, all units working for each other, with the midfeild doing a very good job, Well done Kerry keep up the good work, if I had a hat on would take it off to you sir

Mayo did very well- I think his hard work was not noticed by many

All very well on today's showing, but we all know Mayo's not the long term midfield solution any more than Gary Hart is the long term answer up front. Nicholas is a real midfielder.

Mayo did very well and he isn't afraid to shoot. He put in 100% today and you can't ask for more than that. The GP also put some nice balls into the danger area.

I salute you, almighty Ginger Prince.

I think Mayo did a decent job today and never once tried to overcomplicate things.

Being more defence minded he also allowed Hammond to push on who in turn managed to pick up second balls from their defensive headers.

I would definitely started with Mayo next game.

A true appraisal of todays game. I thought Mayo & Hammond were excellent together and complimented each other well.

I agree.
I also agree that Chippy just hasn't looked the same since his injury.
It's great that we have versatile players who can be moved around the team.

Didn't Mayo USED to be a midfielder?

Heart says Chippy, head says someone else (Not necessarily Mayo).

Chippy has been fantastic for this team in recent years, but has not been the same force since his layoff.

Mayo is a lot fitter (athletically that is) than people give him credit for. Also he my be slow but he is more mobile than Carpenter and he adds balance to the centre.

I'm delighted to hear the legend that is Kerry Mayo receive applause for his efforts once more. Every time he gets written off he just comes back, does what he's told, and does it well. And he NEVER moans all the time he's not in the side.

The man is an absolute legend and it's great to see he still has a part to play at this club in his testimonial season

Give Chippy a rest for a couple of games and see how Kerry does.

I think his presence helps to free up Hammond more to get forward. His lack of pace isn't so exposed in the middle and he appears to have great stamina.

Having said that, Watford are very quick to get the ball out wide. I wonder if against a team who play through the centre more he might not have looked so good.

carpenter has been wank recently. we miss that ballwinner in the mould of oatway, and with mayo being more defensive minded then i reckon he could do the job. much better than carpenter anyway
