How predictable. What else could Adams have done tonight to please you then? Bar consulting you prior to kick off I suspect nothing. As for Kuipers, he didn't cost us the goal, Virgo did, and I'd like to know Luton penalty you think he should have saved.

Bullshit Mr Han Man!

When a fullback loses the ball in his area of the pitch it is generally the role of the centreback to come and cover, this is what Virgo did. But oh no Michel has to race out of his eighteen yard box and get in Virgo's way.
How the hell can that be Virgo's fault, Virgo was doing what any defender would do, he was covering for one of his fellow defenders.
Goalkeepers are generally there to keep the ball out of the net and not act as a sixth outfield defender!

Exactly. It's a joke that the prize for this is a day out at Wembley as you don't actually need any skill or success to make it. A lucky draw, a couple of shoot-outs, and bang you're at the home of football. Joke. Noone can tell me that Luton, currently marooned at the bottom of league two, deserve to be gracing such a stage. Nor do we. Wembley should be for those who prove themselves over a league campaign.

So Wembley shouldn't be there for the greatest knock out cup competition on the planet then?

Of course I've considered it, I just don't agree with it. I perfectly respect your right to think that, but the hounding and slating of managers everywhere (not just at Brighton) constantly overlooks the unprofessionalism of players all over the country. They're the ones who earn the big money, they're the ones who get the glory, yet when the shit hits the fan they're nowhere to be seen.

I think that players have a responsibilty to bear when it comes to losing, but consistently this season we have been poor. A lot of those players were not so poor last season under a different manager and different coach.

Two teams fighting relegation from the third and fourth tiers wouldn't be in an FA Cup semi final though. If you reach an FA Cup final you've seen off the best the country has to offer. If you reach the JPT you've probably won at Morecambe, Accrington, Macclesfield and stumbled past Notts County on penalties.

You said:

"Wembley should be for those who prove themselves over a league campaign".

I can only go on what you say, and the Football Association Challenge Cup as far as I am aware has nothing to do with league football.

Yeah, I was talking about in the lower leagues though. My apologies. If you reach the FA Cup final you have won through in a draw that includes all the best teams in the country. Why on earth is there a cup for the bottom two divisions? Why not the championship and league one? Or league two and the conference? And why is that competition offering mediocre clubs the best prize of all? It's a nonsensical competition and I am glad a proud club like Brighton won't be embarrassed in it's big day.

If you're embarrassed then fine but please don't tell all the rest of us fans, who haven't celebrated and congratulated players for losing us a game tonight, that we too have to be embarrassed because of your single-mindedness.

And where have I done that?

People can think what they want, why should I care? But I'll stick to believing we're better than all this micky mouse stuff if it's ok with you.

You said 'I'm glad a club like Brighton won't be embarrassed in it's big day' - I'm suggesting that you should not judge the club as a whole based on your view of the cup. None of us would have been embarrassed, the players, management and board wouldn't have been embarrassed, yet you seem to think that your contempt of the cup speaks for everyone.

You're making this up as you go along!!

"Please don't tell all us fans" was the last post, now this one is just GUESSING, i.e "I'm suggesting" and "you seem to think." Shut it, bullshitter.

Well perhaps you could clarify what you mean by saying "a proud club like Brighton" would be "embarrassed" by playing at Wembley rather than resorting to petty insults? If you understood what the phrase "you SEEM to think" meant you'd also understand that I'm only interpreting what you've said, if you don't want people to do that I suggest you consider what you say before going off writing more over the top bollocks as usual.

Well perhaps you shouldn't state a fact then change it to a possibility in the very next post.

I'll quite happily clarify it for you. Brighton and Hove Albion is a club that, in my mind at least, is far above getting excited about the Johnstone Paint Trophy. We've been in the top flight, we've been in the championship recently, we've reached a PROPER cup final. We should have serious ambitions of playing all our football at a higher level than we currently do. With this in mind, I don't think that, as a club, we should get ourselves worked up about a fourth-rate cup that noone cares about. All that 'tension' and 'excitement' in the crowd tonight was surreal. Why does noone behave like that at league games when our future is being played for? My hatred of this competition has been escalated even further this season because, in my opinion, it's diverting attention from the league - something we cannot allow to happen. Thank god we can now concentrate on what matters. Next season noone will give a shit if we lost 3-0 to Scunthorpe in the JPT final, but they WILL care about what division we're playing in.

If you'd posted something like that in the first place I would have a lot more respect for you. I don't completely disagree with all of your opinions (although I do believe that winning any game must be a boost to confidence) but the manner in which you've started this thread suggests to me that a) your attitude stinks and b) you love nothing more than trying to get a rise out of people, and judging by the responses on the thread it seems a lot agree with me.

You clearly love Brighton and clearly do have interesting stuff to say, but the fact that you constantly choose to say it in with such hyperbole and apprent single-mindedness is even more jarring by the fact that you are so bullish and aggressive when people dare to respond.

Anyway. Good night.
