According to twitter, he's gone. I do wonder where this leads Wigan...

I think Poyet would go to any premier league club given the chance if I'm honest.

I don't. Gus clearly stated that he would only leave The Albion for something 'amazing'. No disrespect but the jobs on offer do not fit that description, not even Villa.

I'd be astonished if he went to Wigan. He doesn't need the money and promotion again with us on his CV would look miles better than a season treading water at Wigan, never mind their soul destroying two bob support.

Wigan is one of the few Prem jobs I dont think we have to worry about at all. The transfer budget certainly wouldnt appeal to him, and he'd be taking a huge gamble on his future ambitions if they got relegated.

Wigan is a far more attractive job than Aston Villa at the moment, and neither are worth leaving us for. Good luck Martinez at Liverpool, he's going to need it.

Have to think Wigan will go for an out of work man with Prem experience (Bruce??) or drop into the Championship (Hughton (if not to WBrom) Mackay, Howe even!)

Don't believe Gus would stay with us for any reason of loyalty (he's a footie Manager after all) but neither do I think he'll take on Wigan which is too risky. If he keeps them up so what? If they were to get relegated under him it'd be a huge black mark on his CV

He'll go the minute he gets an offer from somewhere that has some (marginal perhaps) potential. Here it would be Villa, Fulham but maybe overseas?

Think Mr Whelan has been a bit premature. Martinez has not been offered the Liverpool job. Well not yet anyway.

Gus is talking about building the squad for next season. He isn't going anywhere.

I agree. I would think part of the talks with TB, would be about his future. There would be no point splashing out onthe players for next season that Gus wants, if he not going to be here. That's what I hope anyway.

Managing Wigan proved a good stepping stone for both Steve Bruce and now Martinez into getting bigger jobs. Martinez has the club playing pretty much the same philosophy Gus has - he could slot right in. An owner that is loyal, but is also respectful to his managers and players to let them go when bigger jobs come up. I'd have to agree with others, I think it would be massive tempter for him, and out of all the vacancies Gus is linked with, Wigan are the one I can see seriously looking at Gus for the post.

Agreed, not a lot of money, they had an incredible end to the season but you can't overlook the fact they've stayed up by the skin of their teeth for three seasons running, and despite all the Wigan fans all saying keep the faith after they beat Man United, until that run they were on Martinez' back.Add to that having to uproot totally, it doesn't look that appealing.
