A few people were saying this morning that had Jol fallen through Fulham's back up plan would have been Gus. Not sure how accurate that is but just in case I'm glad they got Jol (plus he'll be good for them I think)

Good move for all involved, I think. I quite like Jol, and he's cheeky chappy face will be a good addition to MOTD again.

Good manager and a really nice bloke.

My favourite Martin Jol quote came at a meeting with supporters not too long after Pedro Mendes' infamous disallowed goal against Manchester United when the ball quite clearly rolled 1ft over the line. When asked why he'd been so calm afterwards, the Dutchman replied that he was anything but with the referee.

"I went up to the referee at the end and said,
'In England, can I tell you that you're a prick?'
He said, 'Of course not. You can't say that'.
So I said, 'Can I think you're a prick?'
He said, 'You can think whatever you like.'
So I said, 'Ok, I think you're a prick.'"

That is an old joke that one of my sons used to his college tutor at Guildford nearly 15 years ago. As a result he nearly lost his place on the course and another tutor had to fight to keep him on it. None the less it is a good comment to make when under pressure and not permitted to say what you want..
