Hughes has acted like a twat. He came out and said categorically in a tv interview at the weekend that he was staying as the manager of Wales and that he had a job to do.

Two days later his agent Dennis Roach (also Hoddle's agent - he would be a good bet for the Wales job) said that he WAS in fact interested in Blackburn and lo - he's ended up as manager.

Why can't people be honest any more?

Blackburn are 9/2 to go down on totesport. could be worth a few quid.

Definetely. They can't score goals for a start, relying on a player who was in division 2 a season ago. Souness jumped at the chance to get off a sinking ship.

I have to agree with you LB, most Wales supporters i know wont be too gutted about this. I wonder did Hughes realise that he'd taken Wales as far as he could too, and figured he may not get another stab at the Premiership the way things were going???

But it does seem to bea pretty unfortunate time to abandon ship. Even though Hughes reckons "everything's in place" for the next two qualifiers, this can only unsettle the team surely?

Shouldn't think so, Mick. The team has looked a complete and utter shambles in the last two games. The only way things could get any worse would be if Lennie Lawrence were to take charge for the rest of the qualifying campaign......

I have no idea who I'd like to see as the next Welsh boss, but whoever he is he couldn't do much worse than Hughes has been doing since we beat Azerbaijan in the Euro 2004 qualifying campaign.

The Blackburn fans may be in for rude awakening over the next couple of months.
