Colin Murray to leave Match of the Day 2

Colin Murray is to leave the BBC's Match Of The Day 2 programme at the end of this season, the BBC has announced.

The former Radio 1 DJ, who has presented the sports show since 2010, will be replaced by Mark "Chappers" Chapman, another ex-Radio 1 voice.

In a statement, the BBC thanked Murray "for his great contribution".

He will continue to play a "key role" in BBC output on 5 Live and across TV output for darts and American Football, it added.

Murray was named Music Broadcaster Of The Year at the Sony Radio Academy Awards in 2007 and made the transition from music to sport presenting from 2006 when he hosted the sports-themed panel show Fighting Talk on 5 Live.

Chapman, who made his name a sports newsreader on Radio 1's Scott Mills show, has previously hosted Channel 5's Football Night and Final Score at the BBC.

To be honest, this is just another side-step by the Beeb. Get in NEW PUNDITS FIRST!

Good because Colin Murray is an annoying knob!

And in contrast to this, I really like his manner and his style. He is relaxed, but cares about football and has good banter with the guests. I think his departure will weaken the show, especially considering how bland Mark Chapman is. I'm disappointed Colin Murray is leaving.

I hate Murray and Chapman. That drone of a voice of his is going to grate on a Sunday night.

Could they not have gone for someone completely different? James Richardson would be my choice.

More Man U are great and Alex is amazing then

Well you cant really argue...

-Currently Top of the league
-19 league titles
-11 FA Cups
-3 European/champs leagues
-A treble
-37 trophies for Sir Alex at man Utd.

What we need is for them to NOT win trophies... But then again I can't stand city or Chelsea so lose, lose situation.

Yes a bit arrogant of Hansen BUT that is what the presenter is paid to do and likewise that is what the pundits are paid to do.

Murray should have done his job properly... Looks like he didn't so see yaaaaaaaaaaa!

Ed chamberlain, Gary Neville, Jamie redknapp and sky have it spot on!

Agree completely, although think Marc Chapman will be more of the same!

Is Chapman the bloke who did the commentary on the Doncaster game at the Amex?

no that was that DICK who commentated on the Southampton game when we lost 3-0. Forget his name. Terrible.
